Paddy - A Way Of Life And Sustaining Livelihoods
Tweet |
Meet some of our SRI farmers from the village of Long Langai in Ba’ Kelalan, Sarawak, who are busy at work harvesting rice in the months of January and February. SRI stands for System of Rice Intensification which is a chemical-free farming method that WWF-Malaysia advocates and implements with communities in Ba’ Kelalan, with the financial support from CIMB Malaysia Islamic Bank. Farmers are trained on the SRI method, and equipment such as dryers and milling machines were purchased for them.
Together with CIMB Islamic Bank, we help improve the livelihood of farmers while protecting the environment. Ba’ Kelalan is located in northern Sarawak and is within the Heart of Borneo, an important area for sustainable land use and biodiversity conservation for the benefit of people and nature.
