From 12 to 15 January 2022, WWF-Malaysia together with Sarawak Forestry Corporation and Malaysian Nature Society Kuching Branch conducted a waterbird survey at Rajang-Belawai-Paloh Delta, Sarawak. 💪 This activity was held in conjunction with the Asian Waterbird Census (AWC), which is part of the global waterbird monitoring programme coordinated by Wetlands International. 🙌
Do you know? 🧐 Waterbirds are one of the key indicators of wetlands health. Wetlands provide feeding, resting, roosting and foraging habitats for these charismatic species. Some of the species observed 👀 in this trip were far eastern curlew, Caspian tern, bar-tailed godwit, sanderling, Ruddy turnstone, lesser adjutant stork, Chinese egret, Terek sandpiper and plovers.
Stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram page for more updates about these birds. 😎 For more information about AWC, please visit: https://south-asia.wetlands.org/our-approach/healthy-wetland-nature/asian-waterbird-census/
⚠️Disclaimer: The activity was conducted in accordance with Covid-19 safety guidelines.
