URBAN BIRDS WITH CLIPPED FEATHERS AND CABLE TIES
Even though the crows, mynahs and pigeons may not be treated as protected wildlife, such acts of cruelty to them is still an offence.
We were saddened by a recent case of a glued mynah (first two photos) at 415C Fernvale link, whose wings were also clipped, and the poor bird didn’t make it despite help given by a kind member of public. Thanks to this kind person, who also cremated him/her.
Already being culled due to complaints, these mynahs, crows and pigeons merely try to survive in our urban landscape: we urge public to be more tolerant of them and remember that causing pain and suffering to these animals using cable ties, tying bells or clipping their feathers is an act of cruelty and a punishable offence under the law.
