Even Though 2021 Was Yet Another Challenging Year,..

Even though 2021 was yet another challenging year, there are also so many positives to add to the year that we left behind.🧐
For us, welcoming some of our international volunteers was a big highlight.🙌
With partial changes to domestic and international travel restrictions, we saw an increase in volunteers arriving to be with the dogs and cats at Soi Dog.🐶🐱
Doug who is from the USA 🇺🇸 is one of them and has been volunteering long term at the shelter this year.
‘My favourite reason for volunteering at SDF [Soi Dog Foundation] is that it provided me the opportunity to travel from my human world into the animal world for a few hours of my volunteering day.
There are plenty of ‘normal’ dogs and cats and there are others with physical injuries and obvious wounds…Then there is the additional group of dogs that look fine outwardly, but through the simple act of walking them you quickly realise that they have been harmed by humans, resulting in deep emotional scars.
These dogs and cats challenge the limits of our patience and our human logical understanding and yes, pull on our heart strings.
Volunteering at SDF lets me exercise my compassion and empathy muscles and that ‘s why I enjoy volunteering at Soi Dog.’
There’s more to volunteering than just socialising with the dogs and cats. As Doug puts it so well, spending time with these animals make you a better person too.🥰
So, what are you waiting for? If you are deciding on where to go this year and how to do something extraordinary, come and volunteer at Soi Dog Foundation. We can’t wait to see you.
