Updates from Jennifer:

Hi Dr. Chan,

I have received the 50% subsidy. Thank you so much. Cody is much better now. Bath him with Sebazole (specially for Demodex) twice a week, on Vetri DMG daily after meal, feed him with Canine Caviar (Special Needs + Lamb flavour) twice a day. He is a vacuum cleaner. He eat super fast and finished the kibbles within a minute.

First 2 days he can’t get used to his new life. He don’t know how to drink from bowl. So I use syringe to give him water afraid that he is thirsty and lead him to the water bowl so that he know where to drink. He drank a lot and quite loud. When I walked him, he is not comfortable with the leash but I do not dare to release him afraid that he won’t come back to me. Leave him in the porch but he just follow me wherever I go, jumped on me and hide my slipper. End up he pee-ed in the house and only pooped on the 4th day. Lucky that he pooped because I am so worry and already planning to send him to the vet and check if he is having constipation. On the 5th day when I wanted to bath him again, I leave him in the porch and I went into the house and take his towel and shampoo. When I am back at the porch he is gone. He escape through the gate gap because its quite big and his size is quite small. I ran out and shout for his name and finally I saw him few houses away. He ran back to me and jump on me when he saw me. Since then I off leash him whenever he wanted to pee and poo. He will run back to me when he is done. He will whine like a cry baby whenever he wanted to do business. Yesterday and today he woke me at 7.50am sharp. I have to rush down and bring him to do business because I afraid he will disturb my housemates. Lucky that my housemates are very understanding.

After few days of training, finally he know how to sit but still he loves to jump on me and also bite my hand. Active boy. Need more time to train him not to jump. Gave him a raw hide bone to chew so that he won’t feel boring and he loves to play with ball, surprisingly know how to “fetch” too. I have attached you a few photos of him. Very hard to take his picture because he can’t sit still even if he is on leash. His wound also dried up and his fur in the infected area starting to grow back. Hopefully he can fully recover real soon.

Many Thanks.

We thank Jennifer for the photos, updates and acknowledgement. So happy to hear that Cody is doing much better day by day, and Jennifer is certainly giving him the very best.

Today has been a most challenging day for me. There had been an extraordinary number of patience-testing episodes today (no, I don’t blog the unpleasant episodes unless I am about to “burst”), so it’s so refreshingly welcomed to receive these happy updates from Jennifer and her acknowledgement of receipt of the funds. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple “thank you, payment received” and that makes my work SO much easier because I can then close the case, file it up for the auditors, and I don’t have to keep asking and asking, and sending emails to those rescuers who cannot even send me a simple email (which is free of charge) to say they have received the money.

I can’t help wondering why when funds are needed, the emails come so quickly and efficiently, but when it comes to a simple acknowledgement, it is just so hard to type those few words and click “send”. Are we so culturally deficient that we have forgotten how to say “thank you”? It is sometimes these simple pleasantries that preserve the culture of humanity.

So, Jennifer – you are truly a breath of fresh air for me today. And I thank you so much for being that!
