As you know, Maslinda fosters and looks after many cats and kittens in her neighbourhood. Recently, she agreed to foster the Shah Alam family, which I’ve named Super (the mother), Jamie and Maxie (the girls) and Sunny (the boy). The Shah Alam family’s plight was brought to my attention by Koo. I asked Maslinda if she would be able to help and after Maslinda agreed, Koo brought the whole family to the vet’s for a check-up and deworming and we also supplied a big bag of RC Babycat (reimbursed by Koo).
Super, Jamie, Maxie and Sunny were named thus because that happened right after we won the Sunsuper Dreams Contest, nominated by James Blackwell and Maxx Liong helped see us through the entire contest.
Maslinda also looks after another mother-cat, Peggy, and her family and recently rescued Uncle S, an elderly male cat diagnosed with kidney problems. I have personally offered a bag of RC Renal, previously bought for Indy, but he is no longer displaying any suspicion of kidney problems now, after all his acupuncture treatments. He has stopped his excessive licking of water and seems to be as well as can be, with an added confidence which made him brave enough to run off to the playground and give me a heart-attack!
Here are updates from Maslinda, on Peggy’s family, Super’s family and Uncle S:
want to update u on the number of kitten with me now:
Peggy’s – 4 kittens
Super- 3 kittens
Rescued by neighbour- 3
Rescued by my fren in the market – 4 (these 4 are huge in size even they are estimated to be only 2 weeks old n no teeth still) even dr prem quite surprised with their huge size. and they are walking straight not crawling. they weighed more than the other kittens. they have weird face features, in fact 1 looks exactly like children with down syndrome, but he is the most active. i’ll try to snap their pictures with better camera and send it to u. Vet said just keep an eye of them, coz they are actually disease in cats which make their head bigger (sort like hydrocefalus in human)
when i was sick and admitted last week, 3 had died due to diarrhea (1 is peggy’s,2 rescued by neighbour) but all these 3 has already been the weakest/
smallest. infact, that peggy’s litter, i think peggy wants to eat her last time, but i saw and prevent her from doing so. this is the one who died.
TOTAL number of kittens now is 11. all these been brought to the clinic yesterday for their 2nd deworming. few of them especially one rescued by neighbour is quite small n weak. they all have been separated and i still provide them with pets own milk, for extra nutrient and glucose.vetri dmg are also given to all kittens and the moms plus kaolin clay for those having diarrhea
Super, sunny, jamie, maxie.
they are well. though sunny’s eye problem is still there. brought him to clinic for deworming, prescribed with pocin g eye drops.jamie n maxie has grown up, will startthem with solid food in a day or two
super has been a good mom. she and peggy nursed all kittens. for the mother cats, i gave them rc babycat and at times avoderm. from the vet visit yesterday, vet is quite happy with the moms’ condition. both weighed 3 and 3.2kg (super). super was estimated to be at least 8 years old, and peggy is about 3-4 years. they are dewormed yesterday as well
Uncle S
brought him in for his weekly subcut drip.uncle s original wound has getting smaller (definitely not a sporo case), but i found another 2 new wound sites on his leg. vet says this is normal for him coz he’s having renal problem. like a diabetic person, he’ll easily gets wound on the leg. but 1 of the wound raise some concern coz when the vet cut it open to remove the pus, there’s some polips on the tissue. need to keep a close eye on that, if the polips still there, shud bring him in for further check. it;s afraid to be some sort of cancer. all in all, uncle s has been a very calm cat.good appetite, but still having diarhea. his diet is mainly ID, but i guess he’s already bored with it. he doesnt like that hill K/D.
he lost some weight though.200g to be exact.now at 3kg
Besides our medical subsidy, we have now offered our food subsidy to Maslinda’s cats.
Maslinda says she has enough food until March, and will apply if she needs. She will be applying for the medical subsidy for all these cases.
We are most happy to help out in whatever ways we can, since Maslinda is doing all the hard work. This is the least we can do for these cats and kittens who would otherwise be homeless and uncared for.
Maslinda says Scratch has given two packs of our Sunsuper-food (Sportsmix Catfood) to her. She will share this with other feeders in her area.
P.S. Maslinda has been asked by others to take in their rescued kittens, but she has not been well and needs to go into hospital for regular treatmenst, so she cannot cope with any new ones now.
