Many people still don't know much about these tree-dwelling gentle giants, and we lose more and more of them every day. Both habitat loss due to deforestation, and the poaching of baby orangutans, have had a huge effect on their numbers in the wild. Currently all 3 species of orangutan are critically endangered, with some species' numbers as low as 800.
