Dear all,
It's that scary time of the month again where we are confronted by a mountain of bills. There is rental, utility bills, workers allowances, vehicle maintainance and vet bills. The people in MDDB are always at our wits end at the end of the month. We have no other avenue other than turning to your kind generosity. Please help us make it through the month. Yesterday Marley, our recent rescue with a huge tumour on her side, started breathing funny. Then she started bleeding from her private part. Thanks to our capable staff, they immediately did the necessary first aid and Bailey expelled a dead puppy! Our staff have confirmed there was only one puppy inside which appears to have been dead and stuck inside for quite a while. Marley haf gone to several vetetinary facilities and had tests and scans but this was not 'caught' at all.

WHEN MDDB was kickstarted 15 years ago, two-year-old Shamini Popiko Sasha Woof was our poster doggo. We even had T-shirts made for our volunteers with her photo imprinted. She even 'blogged' for us when we started writing about MDDB. Two days ago, Popiko who would have turned 17 passed away due to old age. It was a great journey for us with the vocal and happy-go-lucky girl. Rest in peace SPS. You will always remain an important part of MDDB.

And the sixth #turtle species is the Yellow-headed Temple Turtle (Heosemys annandalii). The species name, annandalii, is in honor of Scottish herpetologist Nelson Annandale. It is found in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and possibly Myanmar.
It is called a temple turtle because it is often kept in temple ponds. They are aquatic and generally herbivorous.
