A Whale’s Gratitude 22nd Jan 2010, by AnimalCare
I know this has been circulating in the email for many months now, but I’ll just reproduce it here for the benefit of those who might have missed it.
It shows to what lengths some humans would go just to rescue a fellow being, and it shows that our fellow animal-friends have gratitude in their hearts too.
The story…
The Whale A female humpback whale had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to st...

Happy Birthday, And Thank You! 22nd Jan 2010, by AnimalCare
We’d like to thank my friend and our keen supporter (who has requested for anonymity) for doing something special for us on her birthday, which she celebrated in a meaningful way a week ago.
My friend gave a birthday lunch, and requested for no presents, but just donations which would be channelled to two of her chosen charities – The National Cancer Foundation and AnimalCare!
Happy (belated) birthday, dear one.
Thank you very much for your very kind and noble gesture.
May you be ...

Updates On Sean And Tara 22nd Jan 2010, by AnimalCare
My mum sent me this photo this morning, by mms:
It’s Tara and Sean (in the bigger cage).
Mum says Tara’s appetite is now very good, and she even barks at strangers!
Sean, of course, is as usual. Playful as ever. Happy as ever!
They get to roam free separately in the driveway because Sean is not neutered and Tara is not spayed. These surgeries would have to wait since both have just recovered from distemper. After a month, we will get them tested again for ...

Little Eva Is Discharged 22nd Jan 2010, by AnimalCare
We reached Puchong at about 7.30pm. Dr Edmund had prepared Little Eva in a cardboard box to reduce contamination in my car and on us (both Ainey and I have dogs at home).
Little Eva is one of Kwai Chee’s dogs. Lizzie was the other one, but she did not survive (parvo). Both were brought down from Raub about a week ago, and we sponsored their treatment.
Eva had parvo and tick fever, but she made it through the “storm” and is now ready for discharge.
We dr...

Looking For A Place For Roger 22nd Jan 2010, by AnimalCare
Roger, our other Klang Dog Pound survivor, can also be discharged already, but we have no fosterer for him.
I talked to the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA) president, and he said I could use the space at the back of the temple to foster Roger for a few weeks. But we would have to go in every day to feed the dog and clean up the place since the temple caretaker is terrified of dogs (he has a phobia as his brother had been bitten by a dog in the eye and had to be given 21...

Next Stop – Jackie Goes To A Fosterer 22nd Jan 2010, by AnimalCare
Our next stop, after the Kuchai Lama rescue, was to take Jackie “home”. “Home” is Yi Lin’s house, where she and her family would foster Jackie for a few weeks while we look for an adopter for her.

Jackie exploring Yi Lin’s house while their dog, Chief, looks on.
The shaven part is due to her being spayed. Our vet uses the flank method (sideways).

The Kuchai Lama Rescue 22nd Jan 2010, by AnimalCare
As you know, we have been feeding the abandoned dogs in the Kuchai Lama house for more than a week now.
This afternoon, we finally managed to contact the owner of the dogs, and he most willingly agreed to surrender the dogs to PAWS. This was also expedited by the fact that someone had contacted DBKL and DBKL had given the owner a warning where he would have to surrender his dogs to a shelter failing which DBKL will capture the dogs (and euthanise). The deadline was t...

Dogs Visit Mr Tan Before They Leave For Noah's Ark 21st Jan 2010, by Noah's Ark CARES
It was a usual warm Saturday afternoon on 9th January. What wasn’t usual about it was spending it at SWAMI home in Sembawang. We arrived slightly before 4pm with Mr. Tan’s freshly groomed 3 dogs. Mr. Tan was sitting in his wheelchair waiting for us in the foyer, and as he saw the dogs approaching, he broke out into a broad toothy grin, waving and gesticulating happily.Dogs off to visit Mr Tan after their groomingFrom left to right: Mark, Lynda & Joo Kim bringing the dogs to see Mr Tan

Foxy 17th Jan 2010, by Noah's Ark CARES
It was almost one and a half years ago, when I first saw Foxy near my house. I had 2 dogs on the leash and had just started walk them. I saw something white in the bush and found that it was a small dog. He was hiding as he was scared of my dogs. I quickly put my dogs back in the car and asked him to come to me.Surprisingly, he ran to me and jumped up happily many times as if he was asking me to help! He was in very bad condition - extremely skinny and miserable. He didn't have any fur left on h...

Kiro The Hero 28th Dec 2009, by Noah's Ark CARES
This should be the most unforgettable day ever for Kiro, my 1st family dog. A late afternoon email from Lynda broke the silence of a peaceful day, as I was notified that September has been hospitalized. Before long, a frenzy of activities took place. September was found to be hemophilic (See http://noahsarkcares.blogspot.com/2009/11/septembe rs-will-to-live.html), which explains why he bled non-stop after he was microchipped. This will normally not happen even though September and his siblings w...
