Amber Will Be Starting Treatment This Evening 12th May 2011, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/05/updates-on-amb er.htmlI know many of you are very concerned about Amber so this update is necessary. Krystal and her husband, Simon, collected the cage yesterday evening and will send Amber to the vet's this evening, if they can make it after work. With the unpredictable after-work traffic jams, this could prove to be a mean task. The TVT medication has arrived (most vets don't keep stock) and everything is ready for Amber now.&nbs...

Male Kitten Neutered (in Melaka!) 11th May 2011, by AnimalCare
Qiang Qiang is one of the stray kittens fed by Catherina Tay who hails from Melaka. Yes, the same Catherina who also looks after Jackie, the little kitten who had wandered into an abandoned shoplot last month, remember? We all sure learnt a lot from this case - who we could write to, who has the authority to help, etc. Btw, Jackie is fine. Catherina got Qiang Qiang neutered at the vet's in Melaka and has applied for our subsidy (If it's not our panel vet, we only sub...

Making Way To Their New Home 11th May 2011, by MDDB & MCCP Penang
Mr. Ng came today as promise to pick up all the 3 dogs and have them transported back to his farm. Fen Ying, who has been fostering them since the day they were discharged from the veterinary clinic had a hard time saying goodbye to these 3 furkids. In, fact, she had been in tears since yesterday (sorry, Fen Ying for disclosing your secret), citing how much she will miss them after they are gone. Well, this is part of the challenge we have to face being a rescuer/fo...

First Visit To Noah's Ark 11th May 2011, by Noah's Ark CARES
I looked forward to the trip to Noah’s Ark – it was 2 firsts for me. It was the first time I was driving to Malaysia and first visit to Noah’s Ark. I have seen the pictures in on the sanctuary’s website and the dogs look like great company to start my weekend. A small troop of us (5) had a bumpy ride to the sanctuary searching for a rather elusive sign for freshwater fishing place. After driving around for a while, I was over the moon to see the sign for “NANAS”.Upon reaching, ...

Working Together For Amber 11th May 2011, by AnimalCare
Krystal was waiting for the loan of a cage before she could bring Amber for boarding and subsequent treatment at our panel clinic. I had told her a 2ft X 3 ft cage should be able to fit right into any MyVi, but not her bigger cage (that's why she needed the two boys to bring their pick-up the last time). Mary has already raised donations from amongst her friends to pay for Amber's boarding while undergoing treatment at the clinic.Yesterday, another friend donated some money to pay for Ambe...

The Feline Art Of War 11th May 2011, by AnimalCare
My family alerted me to this late last night as I was still busy doing the tshirt accounting in my room, in between typing lecture notes for a new semester AND replying emails! Apparently, there was an impending feline war outside in the living room.Come quickly, come and watch, they said. Tiger had just come through the window, back from a midnight stroll, and the two alphas, Cow and Bunny, decided to "have some fun", staking out an ambush on Tiger, from both sides.Tiger is currently...

Ginger's Last Mange Jab 10th May 2011, by AnimalCare
Alex brought Ginger for her last mange jab today. Our vet had asked Alex to keep a record of Ginger's water consumption for a week. This, Alex did. From the daily amounts of water consumed, the vet did some calculations and based on the fact that Ginger consumes double of amount of water of a normal cat's, the vet suspects Ginger may have either diabetes or kidney problems, the latter being of a higher probability. The next thing to do now would be to bring a sample of Ginger's ...

This is a request from Jamie Khoo:This is Toby. He's been a resident at a condominium compound for over a year. A few kind residents feed him (along with 4-5 other cats) almost on a daily basis. On 2 May, he was discovered hobbling about on only three legs and was immediately taken to an animal hospital for medical attention.Xrays showed no fracture but inflammation and abscess from a bite wound.
