Girl & Baby Need Urgent Home
18th May 2011, by MDDB & MCCP Penang

MDDB & MCCP Northern received an appeal from Jackie who has been taking care of Girl and Baby for almost half a year now. Girl (the mom) was a stray and wandered into Jackie's apartment complex and gave birth to 5 puppies – 2 males were successfully given away leaving 3 females. 1 got rolled over by a car, another lived for another 3 more months to eventually die from poisoning. So that left 1 female puppy (Baby) and mom. Jackie built them a dog house and they made their hom...

18th May 2011, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase

RESCUED FROM HOARDER & LOOKING FOR LOVE: Several weeks ago, my friend Laurence rescued 12 cats from a horrible hoarding situation in Clinton. The cats were kept in a small, filthy room with nothing but a urine saturated mattress on the floor. None of the cats were fixed, so females were going into labor with nowhere to hide from fighting males. The woman was feeding them bowls of macaroni noodles for food. Most of the cats had spent their entire lives in that room, so when they found freedom, e...

Close Encounters Of The Sweetest Kind
16th May 2011, by AnimalCare

Yesterday was our Pre-Wesak tshirt sale in the Bandar Utama Buddhist Society.  Even before my talk started, a little girl and her mom came up to me and introduced themselves.  According to mom, Yi Lin (the little girl) loves reading my books and because of what she has read, they have now adopted a stray cat.  Yi Lin was clutching Pawprints and Rainbow Bridge and asked me to autograph her books.  She has not read Indy Jones. So I got a friend to get a copy of Indy Jones and I...

Volunteering Experience
15th May 2011, by Noah's Ark CARES

I first learnt of Noah's Ark when my sister came back from her visit and told me stories about how overwhelming it was to be pounced on by over-enthusiastic dogs. This piqued my interest and I decided to sign on the next public tour. After that, I was instantly hooked! To me, every visit to the sanctuary is stress relieving, just patting the dogs and seeing their antics will cheer just about anyone up. It was a place where no one judged, where it can just be the dogs and me interacting. Bei...

Lilac Is Sitting On Her Chest And Amber Is As Happy As A Lark
15th May 2011, by AnimalCare

I visited Lilac yesterday.  She was lying very still with her chin down and it looked a little worrying, but the moment I called her name, she mewed!  She knows her name (well, remember, she was someone's pet before).  I called her three times, and she answered each time.  Gosh...that really melted my heart completely.Lilac was also sitting on her chest already, so that was a good sign.I've checked with both our vets, recovery is usually very good in these cases.  Lilac....

Amber, After The First TVT Jab
14th May 2011, by AnimalCare

We were all quite worried how Amber would take the first TVT jab, seeing how she was quite emaciated and all.So, I went to visit yesterday evening.  The first jab was given in the morning. Here she is...Why are the photos so blur, you may ask? It's because she is so active and cannot stop moving, that's why!  Granted, I also only had my (not so expensive) handphone with me!So, the vet said there doesn't seem to be anything to worry about if she's still so active.  However, we cannot...

Revised Postal Charges (for Tshirt Orders)
14th May 2011, by AnimalCare

Sorry folks, I know it's never good news whenever there is a price hike in anything these days (unless it's a salary hike, which seldom happens!).I have to revise our postal rates because: 1.  Poslaju seems to be so inconsistent in their rates.  I've sent one tshirt for RM5.70 and another one tshirt for RM8.  Gee....I don't know what is going on here, but what to do?  Could be the weight, I guess.  2.  We have sizes from 28 to 46.  A Size 46 weighs so much more...

Surgery On Lilac, Cat Injured In A Car Accident
14th May 2011, by AnimalCare

This is an extremely long story which had kept me busy practically all day yesterday, but I shall spare you the agony of having to read a long and potentially confusing story and just stick to the important facts.Lilac, a female cat, was someone's pet-cat.  Apparently, a car had run over Lilac (I heard it was the owner's car) and the owner did not want her anymore.  Lisa took it upon herself to rescue Lilac and brought her to our panel vet for treatment.  ...
