Poor Cow....he Has FLUTD 5th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
This afternoon, I saw bloody urine stains on the wall. Cow and Bunny are my two alphas and they are the only ones who spray (mark territory) in the house. Before that, I already suspected something was wrong with Cow because he jumped onto the table to drink Ming-Yi's water. A lot of it too. That got me really worried as it is indicative of kidney problems. But I was dead tired after work and thought I'd take a nap before taking him to the vet. When I woke up, Cow sprayed on the wall rig...

Photo Feature 5th Jul 2011, by SPCA Singapore
SPCA commenced its sterilisation voucher programme for strays in 1991. Since then, over 27,000 vouchers have been distributed to members of the public/volunteer caregivers/animal welfare organisations enabling them to arrange for a stray to be sterilised at a participating veterinary clinic with SPCA paying the cost.
We acknowledge and thank the private veterinary clinics (18 currently) who have supported the programme through special rates for SPCA over the years.
We also thank all the kind s...

One of the areas where the dogs are let out four times a day to exercise.A living area for the home's residents. Each dog has its own 'room'.A dog delivered by the local council in the holding area where it will be kept for seven days pending being claimed. We had the opportunity to visit the Mayhew Animal Home in London and are now wondering if the shelters in Malaysia will ever ever arrive at the standards maintained there.Being a no-kill shelter, Mayhew has a high adoption rate and has a plat...

Another Puppy Rescued In Petaling Jaya 5th Jul 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
This puppy was rescued from a eatery in PJ yesterday by someone and will be handed over to us today. Apparently the puppy was imprisoned under a crate - possibly by restaurant workers to prevent it from wandering to the busy main road. It was also probably dumped at the restaurant by some cold-hearted individual. We need someone to foster the pup until this Sunday (until our adoption drive) so that it can receive some TLC to boost its confidence level. Any takers? Please call 019-3576477.

Cotton & Family 5th Jul 2011, by Second Chance
A long overdue visit to the shelter two weeks ago was greeted by this cheerful infectious bright smile from Cotton, a lovely and very friendly mama dog. She instantly reminded me of my favourite rebellious princess Snoopy =) Then I was told of how Cotton and hubby and her pups escaped horrible fate ( ie. being round up and send to local dog pound) thanks to rescue effort by MDDB. Cotton and family are now temporarily residing at our shelter until they are able to find their forever ...

Updates On Lilac 4th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Lilac is FINALLY walking on her own now. Her broken leg was repaired by IM-pin insertion, but there was an adhesion between the leg and the hip, so a second surgery had to be conducted to "separate" the adhesion. Even then, she wasn't keen to use the leg.Today, she is finally walking on her own. At long last!We are not sure of the ownership of Lilac, but we were approached by a rescuer to help with funds or the owner would have had her euthanised. It was literally a matte...

Newly-Rescued Puppy For Adoption 4th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Shenaaz Khan called this evening saying she had received news that a young puppy was being kept in a basket (or box) at a restaurant with hardly any space to move about. The restaurant people probably wanted to keep the puppy safe from harm. Shenaaz wanted to take the puppy and rehome it, so she asked if I knew of any fosterer. Well, I don't, but we could ask MDDB if they have any space in their halfway house. I called Wani who said she would be able to take the puppy (pr...

Other than that, Amber is as fine as ever, as usual.Heng Ngoh also brought her TVT dog for the 2nd jab today. She has called this dog "Gobby" and will adopt her. Gobby is a street dog who frequents Heng Ngoh's restaurant. Heng Ngoh is also planning to bring Gobby's puppy for treatment (skin problem). Go...

Blackie Goes Back To His Colony 4th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Blackie is the terrorist in CP's neighbourhood and has been reigning supreme over Manja, Didi and Mimi, the three cats already spayed-neutered under our sponsorship and are being managed by CP and her family. Each time Blackie comes into CP's compound (yes, he is THAT brave), it is always Manja (the oldest female) who will be protecting the home territory. Then, there would be the raising of fur and war-cries....you know, the works. Blackie was finally captured by using our cat...
