Now, Where Is The Sunny Kitten's Toilet??? 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
As you've read, the Sunny Kittens had not poo-ed for a few days ever since they started on kibbles. The vet said it was okay as none of them were constipated. Rex and Fox had no faeces while Honeybear only had a wee bit.But in the afternoon, I had smelled something in the room. Tried as I did, I could not find the poo. After a fun-filled session of play, play, play! I noticed Rex and Fox love going into the playhouse. Honeybear has started to eat kibbles n...

The USJ Family Day Event 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Yesterday was an extremely humid day. I was delayed at the vet's, so Mary was already there with all the tshirts by the time I arrived. Thank goodness we had loaded all the tshirts in her car the night before. CP and husband, Lim and son, Jen Kynn were on hand to help us set up. The carnival started at 5pm and the crowd trickled in. This lady in the photo owns a petfod shop in Kota Damansara and she explained to me that they do not sell pets, just petfood ...

The Sunny Kittens Go For A Check-Up 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Honeybear had not pooped for five days now, and I was getting really worried. While I know constipation is not life-threatening and sometimes, there may not be much poo when kittens are solely on milk, Honeybear had already been eating soaked kibbles for 3 days now. So, off the three went to the vet's for a check-up.It was an incredibly long wait.... Rex is always the bravest of them all. Honeybear just wants to play...Since we had to wait, CP was still there and it was so n...

Bushytail Gets Healing Energy 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
By the time I reached the clinic yesterday, CP had just completed more than one hour to hands-on energy healing for Bushytail. She said Bushytail is really strong. The vet assistant said Bushytail sat up in the morning and responded to them. She is still being forcefed, but has already improved a lot compared to the day before.Get well soon, Bushytail. And many thanks, CP. Very often, energy healers are reluctant to help animals (they only do it for humans), so...

Urgently Required - Fosterer For Bushytail's Kittens 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Sudhamma just texted me about an hour ago that she needs a fosterer urgently for Bushytail's kittens as she would be going back to school (to teach) on Monday. The weakest one and the one with diarrhoea have passed away, so only three are left now. They are estimated to be about 7 days old now. If you are able to help, please contact Sudhamma directly on 012-3260770.

Ice Cream And Panda, Treated For Skin Problem 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, Joanne Lim brought Ice Cream and Panda for treatment. Joanne writes:Yesterday I had abt a 50 mins session with the vet. He also observed them during our discussion n exploring what should n could be done for them.Looking at the fact that Ice Cream and Panda (ICP) are strays that live in the factory, the reason of the skin prob may be due to exposed to chemicals (since they roam freely in the factory), food allergy, infected by other dogs or even ticks/fleas. There is not much a ...

Our New Quality Control Supervisors! 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Right after the radio interview, I rushed over to Sukhi Hotu's to get the new tshirts. Ahh, just on time for today's event in USJ (come join us, ok?). The boxes of tshirts were piled all the way to the roof of my little Kelisa. I stopped at the clinic to see Bushytail before going home, and the vet remarked, "Goodness...what have you got in those boxes in your car?""Money" to fund all this spay-neuter and medical treatment, doctor! But not cash...it's tshirts!Indeed, we'v...

Playhouse Kitties 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
The Sunny Kittens have been enjoying the playhouse.... Fox and Rex inside. Honeybear is sort of the last one to learn new things...well, he's the youngest. Rex loves it! I'm coming out!! Er...use the door, Rex? No, the window's more fun! As I've said, these are indeed the MOST obedient kittens I've ever fostered. They go to sleep after they are done eating and playing. For every meal, they still get milk, and the kibbles. It's still on...

Updates On Bushytail 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Latest news....Bushytail has improved! At least that's what I've got from the vet's assistant. The vet is just too busy on a Saturday to take calls, so I won't disturb him unnecessarily.Meanwhile, CP and her husband, Lim, dropped by this morning as CP has been collecting tshirt orders for us (thank you so much!), and CP and Lim has offered to go do energy healing for Bushytail this morning. Thank you, CP and Lim. That's exactly what Bushytail needs right now - spiritual h...

The Tide Turns....(Newton's Third Law At Work) 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Remember how Pole did not dare come back because (we found out later) Indy had been "ambushing" her? So, we had to go to the neighbour's to carry Pole back for about five days before she regained her confidence to come home for meals, and in the meantime, Indy also got told off for his unbecoming attitude. Well, guess what....the tide has turned now (so fast?)....These few days, Indy has not been coming back and it's Pole ambushing him! And since Pole comes from the Cow&Bun...

Heartfelt Thanks To Our Vets (Bushytail's Surgery) 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
I learnt from the vet's assistant yesterday that the pyometra in Bushytail was only detected late Thursday evening when pus flowed out from Bushytail's vulva. In fact, it sort of "flooded" the tray of the cage. That indicated that it was really bad. Very bad.But the vets had just forcefed Bushytail that afternoon because the plan (and that was our decision, too) was to opt for the less risky of the two options, ie. between immediate surgery for the necrotising mastiti...

A Third Panel Vet For Subang Jaya Folks! 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
As promised, I have now enlisted the help of a third panel vet to do spay-neuter for our One-Street CNRM programme for Subang Jaya and USJ. However, the rates are a wee bit higher and just like our other vets, there is also no boarding. We need to understand that the strays that we bring in may carry diseases and there are other boarded pets in the clinic, so we should not insist on boarding because it could lead to an outbreak of disease at the clinic. Most clinics do not have ...

The Prognosis Of Bushytail's Condition 11th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
I stopped by twice yesterday, to check on Bushytail's condition. The prognosis remains grave even though Bushytail is hanging on. The senior vet explained to me just what had happened and how badly infected Bushytail's mammary glands were (and still are). From the diagram drawn, it appeared that the skin on her entire underside would have had to be removed if all the infection was to be removed. This, of course, was not possible, so they could only remove the worst of the infect...

The BFM 89.9 Experience 10th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
In one word....it was real FUN!Chwi Lynn and Meera Sivajothy were so hospitable, they made me feel right at home. Being inside the studio was such an enjoyable experience, too. However, time passed SO fast while the interview was on. Of course it would, especially if you had so much more to say! What I liked most of all was their punctuality and adherence to time. Well, of course they would have to - it's radio! It's just so nice to do things when time is given due respect....

Bushytail's Kittens - Another Passes Away 10th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Poor little kittens. After the passing of the weakest one, another developed diarrhoea this morning. I sought advice from the vet and she agreed that we could try giving glucose water for 2 feeds and slowly reintroduce milk.Sudhamma did that, but the poor thing passed away by afternoon.Again, we hope the kitten is in a better existence now. From five, it's down the three now....

Shihtzu For Adoption – 2 Years Old 10th Jun 2011, by Second Chance
Paws Mission received SOS message from one rescuer: My relative operates a pet shop and one day one indian guy brought a male shihtzu about 2 to 3 yrs (fur in terrible conditions and blinded in one eye) to her shop for grooming. After leaving the dog there this man did not come back for the dog. Now the dog has been boarding at this pet shop for almost 2 months already. I have asked her to e-mail me the photo. She told me the dog is very good dog and does not...
