A Sunny Sunday At Rozita's
19th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

First thing in the morning, I texted Rozita to ask how the Sunnies are doing.  Oh, they are fine, Rozita said.  In fact, she has declared today the official "Pee and Poo Day" because all three Sunnies pee-d and poo-ed at the same time this morning!  Then, apparently, there was a big fur-raising event in her house as well. Who raised their fur, I asked.  The Sunnies or the Elders?  (Rozita has three adult cats.)All six of them, she said! And why is that so?Well, the S...

Jenny Is Discharged And Is Now Boarding At Puchong
18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Mei Leng came over to discharge Jenny.  She said Jenny was so happy she actually ran around the clinic.  Mei Leng is beginning to think that Jenny could be another very perky little dog, just like her own Perky (our Klang Pound rescue, who defied the odds to live and thrive!).  Mei Leng sponsored Perky's surgery; she felt our funds should be used to help other truly needy rescuers with their rescued animals.Thank you, Mei Leng.  That is indeed so very noble and generous of yo...

Mdm Hoo is from Kajang and she looks after many stray dogs.  On her own, she has been doing spay-neuter for many years.  Last week, we sponsored the spaying of 3 of her female dogs at her regular clinic.  Since it is not our panel clinic, we subsidised based on our rates.

Bunny's Home!
18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

The clinic closes at 6pm, so I had to pick up Bunny even before he had fully awakened from the sedation. The vet said the procedure went well, but some extras were done for Bunny, just to be on the safe side.  He was also given subcutaneous fluids to prevent dehydration.Bunny lying down comfortably in the cage at the clinic.  His pupils are still dilated which indicates he is not fully awake yet.  The vet also gave him something to protect his heart, which also causes the dilation ...

It was time to take the Sunnies to their new home.  Rozita said she would be home by 2.30pm.  I packed their milk, a new pack of RC Baby Cat, their little pink ball and Tiger's basket.  Say thank you to Uncle Bobby first... Thank you, Uncle Bobby. Thank you, Uncle Bobby.Taman Tun seemed very far.  Rex was mewing all the way, so I held him.  Still, he mewed.  Honeybear was asleep.  Fox poo-ed in the box.  It's exactly like taking babies on a journ...

The 5 Kittens Are Doing Much Better Today
18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

I popped into the clinic for a quick visit and the 5 kittens are doing much better today.  The two sick ones look better too.  I was worried the other three would come down with flu as well, but things look pretty good for now.  Flu spreads within a 10 metre radius, so it's quite impossible to segregate them.  Rani has offered to help foster them and look after them while they are at the clinic.  Rani will take them home for the weekend.  Bless her kind heart.  ...

Jenny's In Fine Fettle
18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Jenny is as good as she can be.  The vets are incredibly happy with her rate of recovery.  Hey Jenny!  She was so happy to see me (or anyone, for that matter!), she wagged her tail so happily.Lydia came later, to accompany another case at our vet's, and Jenny was equally happy to see Lydia too.Lydia has had much experience rehabilitating tripods (amputees).  She says they always feel so much better after the "problem leg" is removed and hence, they become so much happier. &nb...

Bunny's Injured....again!
18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Two nights ago, I heard sounds of fighting in the drain outside.  I went out and heard Bunny's war-cry.  A ginger-white cat has appeared in our area a few weeks back and Bunny has been protecting his territory.  I tried to call Bunny out but he wouldn't come out and there was nothing much I could do since both of them were inside the drain.  I didn't hear sounds of any fight, though, just the classic "war-cries".  Last night, Ming-Yi said she felt a hard lump on Bunny. &...

Request To Help A Pet Cockerel
18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

This is definitely a first.  I received an email request to help a pet cockerel with an injured leg last night.  I've consulted our vets and they said they do not have the medication for chickens, so they'd prefer not to.  The best place would be UPM as there is a specialist for chickens there.  Failing which, Zoo Negara is also possible, but only with contacts.  If you know of any private vet who can treat pet chickens, do please leave a comment here.
