Fight On, Kuda!
17th Jun 2011, by MDDB & MCCP Penang

Here are the videos of Kuda taken after he was discharged from the veterinary clinic. He is currently under the care of our rescuer, Fen Ying. He is seemingly more relax compared to being caged 24/7 at the clinic. We know that it's still a long way to recovery but with the support of many people around the world, we shall not give up in helping Kuda. And we know Kuda will not give up on himself, too.FIGHT ON, KUDA!

RIP Roberto The Rabbit
17th Jun 2011, by Noah's Ark CARES

We have heard and seen so much about stray cats and dogs, yet on the flip side, pet owners have no qualms about throwing out their small pet animals into the wilderness.About 3 months ago, our volunteer received a call for help with a rabbit that was roaming Little Guilin park. It was approaching dusk so J, the lady who reported the case to us was concerned over the safety of this little one. In fact, she assured our volunteer that she will stay and watch over the rabbit till we arrive. Once the...

The Lucky Ones Will Find A Way
17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Remember Squirrel? After the back neighbour had his tree chopped down and Squirrel had not appeared in my kitchen for food, I was so worried about him.But after a week, we saw him eating in the kitchen again, and that was on a Sunday when there was no renovation work.  But throughout this week, Squirrel has been coming in daily to eat the cat's leftovers.  I know because I see all the remnants of the food chips on my kitchen slab every afternoon!Hooray for Squirrel!

Updates On Buzz
17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/04/buzz -cat-with-diaphragmatic-hernia.htmlBuzz was a street-cat, supposed to be spayed, but had breathing difficulty upon being given the anaesthesia.  The spaying was aborted, and subsequent check-up at our panel vet showed that Buzz has diaphragmatic hernia.  The treatment is surgery, but it is extremely high-risk.  Alternatively, a diaphragmatic hernia cat can live on comfortably as long as it is prevented from fall, bumps and obesity...

Amber, TVT Survivor, In Need Of A Good Home
17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Amber was a street dog in Ara Damansara, and she had come right up to Krystal Teoh's gate, wagging her tail, as though asking to be helped.  Krystal noticed that Amber had a dropped and "half-eaten" vulva, and she contacted me to request help for Amber.Amber was brought in for a check-up and found to have advanced TVT (Transmittable Venereal Tumour), a cancer of the private part, not uncommon amongst street animals.  TVT spreads through contact; it is not airborne. As serious as it soun...

Senior White @ Milky Kiai, One Of Our Selayang Pound Rescues
17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

On 25th February 2010, we took out 23 puppies due to be euthanised at the Selayang Pound.  In collaboration with MDDB, these puppies were sent for treatment and those who survived were subsequently rehomed.  Sad to say, many of the puppies did not survive despite being given the necessary treatment at our panel vets.   Most of them died of tick fever, distemper, diarrhoea, etc., diseases that afflict street animals.  It drove home the point that stray animals lead such a horr...

Jenny (injured Puppy) Is Transferred From PJ To Subang Jaya
16th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Today has been an incredibly hectic day for me.  The dumping of the 5 kittens really threw me off balance and upset my entire schedule for the day.  I had sought a second opinion about Jenny from our panel vet and was told amputation would be the better choice for Jenny.  Another option is to do what is known as ankylosis but this would take 5-6 months to heal and I don't think Jenny would like that.  Upon discussion with Mei Leng, she agreed that we transfer Jenny to our pan...

16th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

Two nights ago Amy borrowed one of our traps and managed to catch a female cat in her neighbourhood.  She has been trying to catch this cat for two years....so, finally!!Apparently, this cat was so aggressive she climbed all over the clinic!  And vet had to sedate her quickly and get her spayed.  She was just beyond control...probably so angry at being trapped! When CNRM doesn't work, it would have to be TNRM.  Here she is when first caught.  Amy used fried fish as bait. ...

The Five Kittens Are Active And Very Much Alive (dumped In Styrofoam Box)
16th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

I had to arrange for boarding for the five kittens that were dumped in front of my gate (in a styrofoam box this morning) because they have diarrhoea and the flu.   Here they are at the first clinic.  Our vet has already dewormed all of them.  Hopefully, the diarrhoea is due to worms and not a viral infection. They have also been fed small amounts of Baby Cat, and are very strong and active now.  This is a far cry compared to this morning when my husband had first found t...

This Is What Some "Humans" Do
16th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare

This morning, while I was at work, my husband called to tell me someone had dumped a box of five kittens in front of our gate.  The five kittens were placed in the styrofoam box you see in the photo above, with a big rock on the lid.  How can they breathe in a covered styrofoam box?The kittens looked dirty and quite sickly and were very weak when my husband found them.  They felt extremely hot (because the styrofoam is not porous) and could barely move.  He texted me and I to...
