An "Evergreen" Forward (from Meredith To God, And Back)
15th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

I have received this forwarded email countless of times, yet each time, it never fails to put a smile on my face or even a tear in my eye. To know that there are such wonderful people in the world who would take the time to attend to the "little things that matter" is truly heart-warming.  Here you go... We don't know who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service. Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she p...

And How Has Indy Been?
15th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

The day Indy went in for his blood test, we were all kept in suspense and waited with bated breath for the test results the next day. We obviously weren't the only ones kept in suspense as Indy must have read my mind. He spent that whole day in the shrine room and only came down for food. My cats only spend time there whenever they are sick.  The next day, I had gone to the clinic first thing the morning to wait for the results, but apparently, the clinic had already received the results th...

14th Aug 2011, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

RWS states that "no calves or lactating mothers were among our dolphins that were humanely and sustainably collected". Dolphins are highly social animals living in a close knit family unit. If no calves or lactating mothers were collected, can RWS urgently clarify what were done to these individuals? Were they forcefully removed and separated from their families?

We Learn And Strive On For Their Sake (Donnie, Jet And Jackie)
14th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Ever since Bruce's unfortunate passing, I have been in contact with Weiwen. I was a trifle worried that being a first-time rescuer, she might be feeling very dejected by some of the harsher comments (though already edited before being posted). But my worries were unfounded, because Weiwen is made of stronger stuff. I applaud her for having a mental strength which I seldom see, even in adults. She took all the criticisms and advice in her stride and chose to learn from all the sharing.  ...

Photo Updates Of Brownie!
14th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Brownie is our parvo-survivor. Before I post his photos, we might want to analyse his case and learn a thing or two from it.Brownie was a rescued stray from North Port. He was very, very attached to his mother, Angel, and we assume he was breastfed. At the time of being rescued, Brownie was estimated to be about 3-4 months. Angel was rescued too and Winnie Low (their rescuer, also a first-timer) looked after them for about five days before bringing them to our panel vet, supposedly for spay...

13th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/08/doby s-skin-problem.htmlI wrote the above news on 3rd August. It was about Doby's perpetual skin problem which has baffled many vets for about two years now. Nothing seemed to work.  An anonymous person posted a comment about using coconut oil and sulphur (see below in blue). I informed Meiji immediately and she concurred that someone else had also told her about this home remedy but she had totally forgotten about it!Well, Meiji immediately use...

Semenyih Puppy
13th Aug 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

We have had some offers for fostering and we hope that the Semenyih puppy will soon lose its fear of people. However, we note that it is not as fearful as it was initially but still is afraid to let people touch it. So, it is defensive but we believe the puppy can be rehabilitated if it is shown love. It is also crucial that the puppy is fostered in a home where there are other dogs so that it can figure out for itself that people are there to help it. Only after this is done can the pupp...

Napoleon Is Bored
13th Aug 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

LET ME OUT AND THAT'S AN ORDER! Napoleon is bored being cooped-up in the cage and is becoming very vocal about his dissatisfaction. He wants to break free but is too little to do it. We have left instructions that he is to be kept away from Ma Barker lest he emulates her notorious ways. His wounds are healing well but we were a tad to late yesterday and managed to only arrive at the clinic after the dressing had been done. Vet says his wounds is now only a small patch and they will be suturi...

Mimi Chitta Nose Healing Well
13th Aug 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

The tubes in Mimi Chitta's nose has been removed and the only thing to do is to wait for the fresh wound to heal. According to the vet, Mimi Chitta and her mother (whose lump in the teat according to lab reports is benign) are very rowdy. They can break out of any cage and can even bite off stainless steel parts of the cage. Mimi Chitta's mother is the more notorious of the two and she is under clinic arrest until she is sent back home. She must be the canine version of the notorious Ma B...

Another Horrid Sunday - James Dean Is Dead.
13th Aug 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

James Dean, didn't want to eat yesterday but ate a little when we started to hand feed him. Today he was in pain and biting on to his blanket. He has been rushed to the vet and but died. This is the worst news that we have had - because James had been with us for a while and we had tried everything possible to ensure that he continued living. HE had gone through two surgeries - and we thought he would survive. Matter of fact one of the reasons we had wanted to cover-up and extend the corner se...

R.I.P Mr T A.k.a The Face
13th Aug 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

The damage done was far too much and the tumours kept growing although they initially appeared to dry-up. The poor dog died in his sleep although we tried hard. What else can we say other that at least he did not rot and die alone out there on the streets. R.I.P doggie. http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspo t.com/2011/07/another-weekend-tragedy.html
