Doby's Skin Problem
3rd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Doby is one of our Klang rescues who was initially staying in Lotus Life, Bentong, in 2009. When Meiji visited the place, she found that Doby was kept in a cage and did not look good at all.So Meiji brought Doby back to her sanctuary in Raub and since then, Doby has been with Meiji and the 127 other dogs.Doby has a very stubborn skin problem and even after repeated visits to our panel vet, the skin problem persisted. It isn't life-threatening, though. This is Doby, see the white spots on his face...

Mr White, Caught And Neutered
3rd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Last night, Cathy, who lives down my road, sat by the drain with the cat-trap (borrowed from us) in her ongoing attempt to catch the two (intact) male cats on that part of her road. These two fellows have been terrorising the other cats in that colony.Mr White, as he is known, had actually walked into the trap. Unfortunately, our trap had been used too many times and the spring had got loose, so Mr White managed to squeeze out of the trap and escaped!Sigh...this means BOTH our traps cannot be us...

Karuna Goes To Her New Home!
3rd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

I spoke with my mother this morning, if there was any possibility that she could foster or even adopt Karuna. My mum had helped foster Tara and Sean last year - both had distemper and were our rescues from the Klang Dog Pound. Tara and Sean have since been adopted into good homes.I was worried ever since the temple told me that the wild dog who attacked and bit Karuna had gone up to the temple to look for Karuna. Karuna is tied at the back of the kitchen and wouldn't be able to defend herself sh...

Beautiful Inside Out
3rd Aug 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal

Tiger was my most prized being and the hardest decision I ever made was to leave her behind in Lebanon. It was not fair on her for me to drag her to Australia because she would have been quarantined for 6-12 months. She was a stunning cat, not just physically, but in her nature. She gave me so much joy. This blog post is not intended to talk about her because I do not feel like bursting into tears right now. This is going to be a brief reflection on the dynamics of Tiger and Jigalo. Tiger us...

Meeting Up With The Scientist Himself (RetroMAD1)
3rd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Ever since Brownie started on the experimental drug, RetroMAD1, I had been communicating by sms and phone with the biologist who co-developed the drug. Mr Huan invited me to visit his lab and meet up so that he could explain to me how the drug works. So, I went to his lab today. Mr Huan spent a long time explaining everything about the drug and his research. In short, this is what I've gathered, from my layperson's understanding, using very simple layperson language. Any inaccuracies is enti...

A Rescued Dog From The Pound - ADOPTED
3rd Aug 2011, by MDDB & MCCP Penang

Rescuing jobs are never easy. It is indeed very stressful. Besides having to handle the problem from the animals, we are most of the time caught up with problem given by our fellow humans. We do not wish to be credited for the things we have done, but we do hope that people will respect the things we do and not just jump at us and tell us “what we should do” and “what we should not do”. We have many people writing to us asking sponsorship for spaying and to pay for their rescued animals...

Very cute name they have, easier for us to remember too =)Meet Jack & Pot, two of the 5 pups that were rescued from Miharja after Ai Ney, a fellow rescuer alerted us that these pups might just end up in cooking pot if they’re not rescued in time. Both Jack & Pot have since then been adopted by a kind couple that love them both very much! Jack & Pot’s 4-legged family member, Money Jack & Pot on the car ride to Dr Goh’s clini...

No Black Gold....just Yellow!
2nd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/07/anim alcares-black-gold-tshirt-new.htmlOn 21st July, I publicised that we would be producing a Black Gold tshirt (a black version of our Gold (first) tshirt) because my college is holding a charity drive in September and the committee has requested for a Black Gold. However, the response (from the blog readers) to this Black Gold has been very poor. We need a minimum order of 100 for it, and we don't think we can sell it off.   So we h...

Strays In Phuket
2nd Aug 2011, by Second Chance

Strays in Phuket are so… well fed and healthy! And i don’t see the strays going through rubbish bin too. This is maybe because the locals there feed them, therefore there is no need for the strays to scour for food. Some of them are seen loitering in front of the shops. The locals and tourist are not bothered by them and they don’t go bothering people too.   But then again, this is based on what I see in a few short days in Phuket. Animal abuse and cruelty happens everywhere and ju...
