For Adoption: Tom Angus The Handsome Kitty 1st Jun 2011, by Second Chance
By Rescuer Lynette Lim:TOM WAS RESCUED a few weeks ago. He was wandering around outside my friend's office looking for scraps to eat. The scrawny little tyke was skin and bones. He pulled at my friend's heartstrings and she bundled him up in a box to bring to me for fostering. He had a fungal infection and this had made him lose a lot of hair. After weeks of treatment most of it has grown back and he now has a lovely striped orange tabby coat and an elegant long tail. He is long limbed and ...

The Dilemma Of Doing TNRM 1st Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
The reason I had never promoted TNRM is because I have not been in favour of trapping and I honestly don't know how to do it! Hence, I coined CNRM. C = Care. And this is something which I do, too. Can't be promoting something which I don't do, right? However, I am well aware that CNRM is a slow process and results would be slow as well. Seeing how our local councillor is willing to consider our CNRM proposal now, but he wants to see some results first, I'm gam...

The Hills Are Alive! 1st Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
This would be one of my favourite songs and favourite movies of all time. Well, the Sunny Kittens have also been exposed to all kinds of inspirational music this week. This morning, I decided to create a "simulated" hill for them to play on, after their 5am breakfast....I made a little hillock for them to climb on, out of bedsheets. It was something new, and they loved it...Honeybear lost interested quite quickly, though...and decided to go downhill while Rex and Fox take on the...

Ignore The "Small" Minds 31st May 2011, by AnimalCare
A few people who are doing all they can for the animals have written to me about those who only know how to criticise and pick on others' mistakes.I thought this advice from Mark Twain is so timely:"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."Mark Twain1835-1910, Author and HumoristIf you have a passion to do something beneficial for others (humans or animals), just do it. No...

Venturing Out To The Kitchen And Making Kitty-Milestones 31st May 2011, by AnimalCare
The Sunny Kittens have now begun to venture out to the kitchen area on their own (except little Honeybear who still prefers to stay in the room!). They also are able to urinate on their own, but I still stimulate them for pee and poo. Rex and Fox can suck milk from the bottle now. Honeybear bites the teat, so he still needs to be syringe-fed. In fact, syringe-feeding is so much faster and easier, so I've resorted to that! Fox Honeybear I worship toes....(Re...

Why We Do Not Cover Boarding 30th May 2011, by AnimalCare
Recently, there have been people requesting our help for spay-neuter, but insisting on boarding the animals. I'm very sorry we cannot cover boarding due to the following reasons:1. Boarding costs money and we need to stretch our funds to reach out to more animals and their rescuers.2. In the past, there had been cases where the animal is boarded and the rescuer does not pick up as agreed. 3. Our vets are all commercial vets who run their own private practice and the...
