OLD POMERANIAN DUMPED BY SOME HEARTLESS GOONS IN KLANG
3rd Jul 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

This old male Pomeranian was left tied to a post near an MDDB volunteer's house in Klang recently. He had a maggot wound in his mouth and is partially blind due to cataract. One of his testicles also appears to have a tumour on it. According to our Klang panel vet one of the old dog's testicles is embedded inside - the one outside has the tumour. His maggot wound has healed and given that the vet reckons he is really a very senior citizen, we have been advised against any form of surgery as the ...

NoiNoi's Sudden Death
2nd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare

My New "Kite In The Wind" To Fly!
2nd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare

I wrote the book, "A Kite in the Wind" in 2008.  It is about living a life of simplicity amidst the trivialities and complexities of our modern-day life.  So far, this book is my "best-seller", so to speak.  It is the book that has seen the most reprints and received almost as many positive reviews as Pawprints on My Heart.  This year, I added 4 chapters to the original book and re-wrote it as a secular book so that the message can reach out further.  This 2nd edition ha...

Reflections From Chewie's Case
2nd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare

I had a discussion with our vet this morning about Chewie.  My purpose was to learn from the experience and see, if, on hindsight, there could have been anything we could have done better should there be a next time.  That night when Chewie passed away, I informed our vet immediately.  But no thanks to the congested airwaves, he had not got my message until the next morning.  He then texted me immediately to ask if he could conduct a post-mortem, again, for the greater good -...

Blackie Is A "Cryptorchid"
2nd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare

Gosh, what's that?  Cryptor-what???  Hang on....read the story first.... CP was so afraid of stressing Blackie further, she brought Blackie in the trap, covered by this piece of cloth.  I carried the trap inside the clinic and we waited for the vet to advise the next step. The vet said we'd do it one step at a time.  Lift the cloth first and let him familiarise himself with the clinic environment, the sights and the sounds. There are definitely some old wounds on the...

The Dilemma Of Trapping....but It IS For A Greater Good.
2nd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare

Two days ago, CP came over to borrow our cat trap and a cage.  Apparently, this tom-cat, named Blackie, has been terrorising CP's spayed-neutered cats on the street.  CP and her neighbour wanted to catch him and send him for neutering, with the hope that he won't be such a terrorist after that, and also so that he won't go around impregnating other unspayed female cats.  So, the trap was set.  But Blackie was smart.  He went around the trap, on top of the ...

Updates On Bushytail AND Her Kittens!
2nd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare

Bushytail had been one of our most risky and difficult cases.  She had severe necrotising mastitis coupled with pyometra and was brought in in dire straits. Immediate surgery was done, and even then, it was still touch-and-go for the first 48 hours.  But Bushytail had a strong will to live and a caregiver who had great confidence in her. Together, with all our readers kind wishes and positive energy, Bushytail stumped the vets and recovered most impressively.  And now, after about...

Kuda's Journey Of Recovery
1st Jul 2011, by MDDB & MCCP Penang

Kuda was previously rescued from the streets after he was seriously wounded from a dog fight with a gang of strays. He suffered further injuries when he escaped from his rescuers' home by jumping off from a 2nd floor building and went missing for 2 days. When at last, his rescuers managed to locate him, he was in the worst of shape. Vet's advice was to put Kuda to sleep and end all sufferings as it would be a long and tough journey to the road of recovery. And believe it or not, on the very next...

A No-Kill Way Of Getting Rid Of Ants

Ming-Yi sent me this:How to Get Rid of Ants Naturally Melanie Pinola — When ants invade your home, it's time to battle.
