The Beauty Of Starting Early 23rd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, I was totally and completely konked out after dinner. With getting all my books back, carrying them from the car to the house (good workout for the arms, free "gym"), and collecting all the new tshirt stocks, plus rushing to finish my final exams marking, etc., it was a totally mad day and right after dinner, I was absolutely and completely konked out. The stock-checking would have to wait....sleep is more important. But, here's the beauty of sleeping early and rising early....I ...

Baby Joey 23rd Jul 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
I unfortunately was unsuccessful at getting her to feel safe with me. I had to keep away while Kate(the wildlife carer) fed her and put her to bed. They are such beautiful creatures. Kate usually had a few little ones to look after at the same time. If she felt overloaded, she would palm off a new joey to another carer she has trained. It was a full time job looking after these little rascals.
Usually when they are this size, they have a good chance of surviving.

I know many of you are very concerned about Citta. Yesterday was a "total-madness" day for me as we have an event today, and our new tshirt stocks just arrived and it was all stock-checking and preparing for today's event. I had no time to visit Citta OR Karuna. But the latest updates I've got (as of now) is from the vet himself and he says that Citta is "Doing impressively well. But have to check again this morning".So, that's great news for all of us!Get well soon, Citta. We'r...

Another Abused Dog In Semenyih. 23rd Jul 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
When Reco and Mikheala went to Semenyih to get Citta (whose nose had been sliced off by a scoundrel) they saw this dog tied up in the same area. Apparently this dog is kept tied there without shelter and just lies down starring blankly whether its blazing hot or pouring with rain. So, when we went there on Thursday, we spoke to the owner and asked her why she was so unkind to her poor dog. The lady said she had tied the dog there only for a few hours and usually kept it in her car porch. B...

The Sequel On ‘China’ The Goose 23rd Jul 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
We followed through with our plans with ‘China’. He was admitted for full workup and I got great information from Dr. Colin (from Melbourne bird clinic) and he confirmed the diagnosis of bumblefoot based on the pictures I emailed him. I took lots of footage but will not bore you with all of it. I will just give you a brief rundown on what we did.
First we gave ‘China’ a premedication which includes sedation & pain relief properties. This was followed by a gas down...

Deformed Puppy 22nd Jul 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
Jessy Lian wrote to us sometime last week saying there was a disabled puppy living in an empty house near her place. She's been feeding him and became attached to the puppy but cannot take it home for various reasons. So we have taken the puppy in and will be putting him up for adoption. The male puppy is about 4 to 6 months old and is very charismatic, cheerful and playful and his is of no hindrance to him. We have named him Patrick and will be vaccinating him in a couple of days. Accor...

MAN'S BEST FRIEND
Do they deserve to be treated like this?
The shih tzu was brought in by a good samaritan on July 19. It was infested with maggots - half the face gone and blind in one eye. SPCA had to put him out of his misery.
The rottweiler was picked up by SPCA inspectors on July 20. It was tied up with a heavy chain and fastened with a lock weighing over 2kg. There's a deep cut wound infected with maggots around his neck - probably caused by the chain. Can anyone help identify his owner...

Words Of Wisdom For The Weekend 22nd Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Now that Stuart is at least alright, I need to unwind a bit before going back to my final-exams-marking marathon....I thought there is so much wisdom in this:Old age is the most unexpected of all the things that can happen to us. – Leon TrotskyWhen the first grey hair appears on our head, it is a critical juncture in life. We go to the mirror with a sinking feeling of dread and try to pluck out the evidence – one here, two there. But the more we pull out, the more seem ...

When I received the sms from Punitha just now, I held my breath.....Forwarded sms from the fosterer, Kak Azah:Good morning. No worries. Stuart is doing fine. Already dewormed. He has not vomited since we brought him home. Will try to put him with mummy-cat tonight and see if she will accept him. If not, will continue syringe-feeding him with Milkodog. It's a good milk for kittens.Yay!!! I replied Punitha first to thank her for all her efforts. From yesterday until this morning, I have been...

Updates On 22nd Jul 2011 22nd Jul 2011, by SPCA Selangor
More and more cats and kittens are being dumped at SPCA, as the festive Raya season is just around the corner. If you know anyone who is planning to generously give their cats to us, please convince them not to as we struggle to rehome even 25% every month. Please get them neutered to prevent unwanted kittens, and try to rehome them yourself if you can't cope. SPCA should be the last resort, not first choice!
