The Blueys Get A Feather 2nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
We bought a feather for the Blueys today...and they had a ball!We first played with them in the usual way...and after WE got tired, they took over the feather and created their own "catch me if you can" game. There were even rules - if one has got the feather, they other would not be allowed to snatch it away. The other could only watch. Who created the rules? I think it's more like Bagheera wanted to play, and Baloo decided to give in and let her play! It's mine, it's mine! Okay...

Cheang called a few hours ago, saying she suspects something was not quite right with Mickey as he had not urinated at all and seemed very quiet. She also said Mickey felt very hot to the touch, possibly having a fever.I told Cheang to take Mickey immediately to the vet in PJ which has an emergency call-back for a check-up. All our panel vets are already closed. While Mickey was there, the vet communicated with our vet on Mickey's history. Here's the differential diagnosis:1. Another part o...

Kota Kinabalu 1st Oct 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
When we received several emails about the the recent incident in Kota Kinabalu attached with pictures, we were the least shocked. Having seen the extent of cruelty that Malaysians were capable of exerting on poor defenseless dogs, the manner in which the dogs were brutalised was not surprising at all. We may not have been shocked but we were certainly angry.......matter of fact we were very very angry. First and foremost this should not be happening when there are so many animal welfare a...

Ben, Brother Of Burt, Comes In For A Check-Up 1st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
When Norshidah brought Burt in for a check-up and found that he had sporotrichosis, she told me Burt has a brother who is very close to him and this brother, Ben, also has similar-looking wounds. This afternoon, Nor brought Ben to the same vet (the one who is treating Burt). Burt was so happy to see his brother, and made a lot of noise. We're really pleased to hear (and see) that some of Burt's sporo wounds have dried up - this is fast! Only that stubborn one near the nose is stil...

A Letter From A Shelter Manager - Anonymous In North Carolina, USA 1st Oct 2011, by SPCA Penang
I think our society needs a huge "Wake-up" call. As a shelter manager, I am going to share a little insight with you all...a view from the inside if you will. First off, all of you breeders/sellers should be made to work in the "back" of an animal shelter for just one day. Maybe if you saw the life drain from a few sad, lost, confused eyes, you would change your mind about breeding and selling to people you don't even know. That puppy you just sold will most likel...
