Beware Of Such Adopters (Bruce Is Gone) 12th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
If you remember, Weiwen is the young rescuer who rescued and took care of (and did a great job, too) four baby kittens, whom she named Bruce, Donnie, Jet and Jackie. The last I heard from Weiwen, the four kittens were doing very well, and had even recovered from watery poop. Bruce was the strongest of the four. Weiwen wrote to me yesterday:Feeling very upset today so I decided to email you. Last Saturday I finally gave my male kitten up for adoption to someone who contacted me via Pe...

What Do We Do - Opinions Please. 12th Aug 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
Remember this puppy which was rescued in Semenyih? Reco and Mikheala had fetched it from Semenyih and brought it to our panel vet today. According to the the puppy was very afraid of humans and made a lot of noise but it appeared to calm down when touched and petted.
The vet also called us and told us that both its back legs were broken and its back could be injured as well but they couldn't do much because it screamed every time someone went near it.
He said since the leg fractures were ...

SAD SAD SITUATION 12th Aug 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
Its sad to note that our society is evolving into one that is lacking in compassion - we were rankled to learn from an independent rescuer friend about an MKA certified purebred Labrador that a wealthy family acquired for more than RM2,000 which they decided to euthanize recently for a whimsy reason. They had sent it to a shelter for the job to be done. Here's what she says:
"I was asked by a friend to help her rehome the dog because the children had lost interest in the dog and it was negle...

What Keeps A Vet Ticking With Energy… 11th Aug 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
I am utterly exhausted. I am running on very low sleep because of afterhours emergencies and a busy schedule full of interruptions/emergencies and one intensive hospital case… I have so many interesting topics and cases to discuss but can not right now because my brain is fried!
I am simply feeling really confused, crabby and delirious like this premedicated kitty cat below.
One of my great and very dedicated bloggers Barb asked me how I am able to cope with the loss of a beautiful patie...

Female Cat With Ataxia And Her Six Kittens (Mira's Rescues) 11th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
Mira wrote to me about a female cat she rescued while the cat was pregnant. The cat has already delivered and has just about finished nursing her 5 kittens (there were 7 kittens but two died). Mira wanted to get the cat spayed once and for all because the cat had given birth many times. Mira also noticed that the cat was "wobbly" (like Parkinson's Disease, she said). Besides her own 5 surviving kittens, this cat (named Tam Tam) is also nursing a foster-kitten. This foster-kitten is the...

Indy's Blood Test And Urine Test Results 11th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
Indy's blood test shows his creatinine and urea are within the normal range. The urine results done at the lab shows normal pH and no presence of any protein in the urine at all (hooray). BUT....the initial test at the clinic (done with a test kit, and hence, may not be accurate) showed the presence of protein. Two possible explanations:1. There was protein in his urine, but these got broken down by the time the urine reached the lab.2. There was no protein in his urine. We won't know...

All of us (both 2 legged and 4 legged frens) from Paws Mission would like to thank everyone for making the IOI adoption drive a success!
