Kathina At The SJBA 23rd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
It was raining very heavily yesterday evening and Winnie and I were caught in the rain when we reached the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association to set up our booth on Kathina eve. Rain or no rain, we managed to unload everything and set up our booth. Soon Terry arrived and we were all set for the evening. However, it was a very quiet evening and the smallest Kathina crowd I had ever seen! I didn't know the school holidays had started. Also, with Deepavali around the corner, many people were...

One Expensive Goat Curry… 23rd Oct 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
Monday was looking good. Schedule was not too frantic, things were running smoothly and everything was under control. We got all too comfortable but then Tuesday came. My goodness, I really still don’t know how we managed to pull through and maintain any cognitive function at the end of the day.
If we didn’t come together as a great vet team, we would not have been able to get through the work load scheduled for this black Tuesday.
I must say chapeaux bas to my boss Dr. Bruce Syme wh...

Fosterer Needed For Bear Bear 22nd Oct 2011, by Second Chance
A minor car accident brought about a trip to a car workshop which in turn caused the car owner to chance upon a 5 -month -old Shar Pei mixed puppy (male), now named Bear Bear.Car Workshop is definitely not the place for Bear Bear, don't you agree?Seeing the deplorable condition the puppy is living in (lying around the floor with spilled engine oil, water container contaminated with all sorts of automobile oil and God knows if he's been fed properly), the car owner decided to probe a bit further ...

Pola The Talking Pooch - Our Very Own “Receptionist”! 22nd Oct 2011, by Second Chance
If you were to set foot into our shelter via the main entrance, you will not miss the greeting sounds from our very own receptionist – Pola.Pola is one of about 20 dogs who were left at our doorstep. When he first settled into our shed, he was emaciated and forlorn looking. From what we know, he, along with his 20 fellow canine friends were enclosed in a compound without food for quite sometime.A couple of his friends had to be sent to the vet immediately and put on intravenous drip as they we...

On The Homefront... 22nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
I wanted to buy something for the Blueys when they go to their new office-home on Monday. So, I thought the best would be food. The Blueys ought to be able to eat Kitten 36 now since they can already even eat Bobby's food!Yes, Baloo loves it!Bagheera, too.And I asked the vet about Indy eating canned food. I've been giving him canned food very often this whole week, just to get him to come home. The vet said the only canned food Indy should take is KD. Indy is a suspect kidney-insufficiency case,...

Visiting Ben And Burt 22nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
After meeting up with Mary and the mangy cat, my next stop was to visit Ben and Burt. Have been wanting to visit them, but this week has been extremely hectic.Burt is doing quite well, but there is one stubborn spot on the nose which still has not healed. The vet says he isn't doing as well as some other cats, though. But we'll just have to stick with it, some cats may need a longer time to respond to the medication. Or some spots may be more stubborn than others. The rest of his sporo spots hav...

Mangy Cat To The Vet's (Mary Yap's) 22nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Mary feeds the cats in her apartment area, and this morning, she noticed one of the cats has pretty bad mange. The cat was sent to our panel vet today for treatment.Blurry photo...it's an active cat!See the mange on the ears?An Ivermectin jab should do the trick.Monitor for a few days, it might just do the trick if it starts improving. If not, bring back for another jab. That's all it needs.Mary sponsored the treatment.

Chicken Soup For The B&Bs 22nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
This morning, I was still up at 3am.There was a huge commotion at around 2am in the porch. Cow & Bunny were engaged in yet another World War III and tufts of fur was flying all over. I suspect it had something to do with the Tulipspet spray. I must have removed their urine scent from the walls and they are upset. Unfortunately, at precisely that time, Indy had just walked into the porch, probably back from a midnight stroll to his familiar haunts. Poor Indy, he was so scared, he ran out...

Tulipspet Cat-Spraying Control? 22nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
I've been dealing (and living!) with a major cat-spraying problem ever since I began fostering kittens and Cow & Bunny had to make their presence smelt!I've tried many kinds of recommended treatments including commercial sprays but none have been able to conquer Cow & Bunny incessant and insistent spraying.Yesterday, Amy recommended that I try this...From what I understand, it breaks down existing urine stains. What's best about it is that it's 100% biodegradable and is bio-enzymatic.&nb...

The Blueys, Indy And Bobby News! 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
My house is not exactly the tidiest dwelling place these days, what with our impending move and also the boxes of tshirts, books, and packages to be posted every day...But the Blueys LOVE it!The messier, the better it is for them! And why is that so?Because...we LOVE to explore, that's why!We love things...things that make all kinds of sounds, just things..interesting things that we can play with. And while the Blueys are exploring every nook and corner in the house, where is Indy?I'm here guardin...

A Special Offer For Dogfood (for Meiji) 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Hi Folks,I know this is a bit early this time as we have just sent a consignment of dogfood to Meiji on 29th September, but I've just been offered a really good deal of RM65 per pack (as per our 3rd dogfood donation to Meiji earlier this year). The company is offering a special promotion, so I thought since Meiji needs dogfood every month, we might as well make full use of this opportunity and capitalise on the lower price to get more value for money. If you'd like to donate to buy dogfood...
