Some Links On Catfood From Dr Lisa Pierson 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
Here are some links on catfood which Dr Susanna shared with me:
http://catinfo.org/?link=cannedfoods
http://ca tinfo.org/docs/Tips%20for%20Transitioning%20PDF%20 1-14-11.pdf
http://catinfo.org/?link=makingcatfood #Raw vs Cooked
According to Dr Lisa Pierson, any type of canned food is still better than dry food and the reason is that cats need water. Canned food has more water than dry food.
She writes: Keep in mind that the cheapest canned food is better than any dry food on the market.

We have subsidised RM224.50 for Hambao’s final bill.
Hambao was rescued by Grace Chow, a student from UTAR Kampar, treated and is now adopted. Hambao and Dehbao’s earlier bill was also subsidised by us. Unfortunately, Dehbao did not make it.

Tabs Is Spayed And Is Home Now 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
The clinic called at 5.15pm saying I could already pick up Tabs. Earlier on, at 4.30pm, I rang and the assistant said Tabs had just been spayed and all went went.
I was so relieved. You know how it is when any of your animals go in for an operation. Every operation comes with risks.
Tabs was moving a lot in the cage when I reached the clinic. She was still a big groggy.
While we were driving home, Tabs kept licking the wound. This vet does the flank method so it’s on her side. I tried to d...

Giving Back Tiger His Throne 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
While Tabs was away for spaying, I tried to give Tiger’s Cardboard Palace back to him, especially his “throne”, but he wasn’t comfortable sitting on it anymore.
See how uncomfortable he is? He used to sleep like a log on his boxes.
Then, it rained heavily and I could not find Tiger anywhere in the house.
After the rain stopped, Tiger appeared at the window. He must have sought shelter in one of the neighbour’s houses because he was not wet.
Poor Tiger…...

Where Is Everyone? 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
The windows are still all closed as Indy and Tabs are still under “house quarantine”.
Tabs was making a hue and cry all morning when I confined her in the room, so I had to stay with her all morning after coming back from the vet’s with Indy.
She finally settled here, on the table beside the modem.
Where are Indy and Bunny?
I went upstairs to check. Indy wasn’t at this usual spot in the shrine room. Bunny wasn’t in Jia-Wen’s room.
I then peeked into Ming-Yi...

The Pied Piper Of Hamelin And Chief Seattle 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
When I was young, we read storybooks, a trait, I’m told is fast dying in this generation of i-pads and ipods.
In these stories (which we called fairytales), one would be transported to a whole new world of magical people, beautiful princesses, gnomes, genies, and sometimes…even rats.
Here’s a story that has stayed in my memory for a long time.
It’s called The Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Let me try and recall the story, as far as my memory would permit me….
Long, long ago...

38.6 – No More Fever For Indy! 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
Great news today! Indy’s temperature is 38.6 degrees. That’s back to normal. There is no more fever!
His weight is maintained at 4kg this morning, which means there is no more weight loss since yesterday.
His appetite has improved a lot too – after the visit to the clinic, I started to force-feed him AD at home, but he licked it off my finger and soon, started eating straight from the can! And a lot, too!
However, there is still a “but”. His eyes still look pale, so...

A Response On The Case Of The Siberian Husky 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2011/12/23/the-case- of-the-2-year-old-siberian-husky/
This is from Maneki:
Your post about the lady who wanted to just dump her husky made me so sad. Huskies are absurdly ill-suited to Malaysian life for so many reasons. They’re high-energy dogs with a powerful work drive, and of course their double-coat is not meant for life in the tropics. It breaks my heart to see them becoming so trendy here. Further, they are prone to quite a long list of congenital diso...

SPCA: Huskies Recommended For AVA Impoundment After Follow-Up Inspection 23rd Dec 2011, by SPCA Singapore
SPCA officials attended yesterday (22 Dec 2011) to follow up on the improvements for the huskies. We agree with the writer that the conditions at the field are unacceptable, and had relayed this to the owner initially.
On arrival at the location yesterday, conditions for the dogs were found to be appalling. The dogs were entangled in their leashes restricting their movement (we subsequently untangled them giving them access to their water bowl), flies and insects were flying around them, and f...

Tabs Shows Her Alpha-Ness 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
Ever since the vet told me Tabs is on heat, and being a young kitten, she can come on heat every two weeks (!), we’ve been keeping her confined in the house until she can be spayed as there are tomcats around the area.
And Tabs is NOT happy!
It’s ironical that a few days ago, when we closed the windows for Indy’s sake, Tabs was dying to come INTO the house. Now, we have to close the windows for both Indy and Tabs’ sake, and Tabs is dying to GET OUT.
It’s as thoug...

The Case Of The 2-Year Old Siberian Husky 23rd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
Two days ago, a lady (who only speaks Chinese) called me asking for help. Apparently, her friend wants to “throw” her Siberian Husky out on the streets. This lady asked if I could take the dog in.
Gosh, I don’t run a shelter, I said. I cannot take any dog in. Why don’t you advise your friend to put the dog up for adoption at PetFinder.my (this lady is IT-illiterate so that’s useless) or send me a photo with the owner’s contact details and I’ll put it up?...

A New Litter-Box For Tabs 22nd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
I went out to buy a new litter-box for Tabs since she is already litter-box trained. The one I have is rather small.
That’s Tiger (not Tabs) looking at the new litter-box. Everyone is welcome to use it. When I move, I have two big jobs – confining the cats and re-training them to use the litter-box. Somehow, years ago, when they were growing up, they stopped using the litter-box and went out to the grass instead. At that time, I thought the grass was more natural for them, so I allo...

39.3 And Going Down, I Hope (Indy’s Temperature) 22nd Dec 2011, by AnimalCare
This evening, Indy went for his jab again and with bated breath, we took his temperature.
39.3 degrees!
Still considered low-grade fever, but it looks like his temperature is going down – Hooray!!
The hypothesis now is Indy may have contracted toxoplasmosis but his body weathered the storm and now, he is on the road to recovery. OR, it may have been a viral fever and the virus has run its course now.
Whatever it is, I’m just so glad Indy is recovering.
MY storm is clearing…at l...
