Have You Heard Of Kopi Luwak?

My son, Jia-Wen, went for a holiday to Bali recently and came back with a most interesting story about Kopi Luwak.
He visited the factory and this is what he learnt:
There is this Asian Palm Civet called Luwak (local name) and its expertise is in detecting (and ingesting) the BEST coffee beans. These coffee beans are not digested but will pass through its intestines only to be excreted (defecated) as faeces-covered coffee beans.

Updates On Flower And Coco (Anita Chen’s)

Here’s updates on the two girls:
So far Flower has not vomited, only poo poo blood clot once in 24 hours and protested like crazy when her lining paper was wet. But she pulled out the drip so it had to be removed. We can’t put into other legs because the vein burt. So, no drip today. Will let her rest, force feed her water and chicken essence to get her strength up. Vet says if she can survive 5 days, she will probably make it. Today is the 5th day.

Medical Subsidy For A Cat With Mange (Shaila Raj’s)

Shaila Raj wrote to me a few days regarding a stray cat with mange. Since this was Shaila’s first case of dealing with a mangy cat, she was quite disturbed by all the scratching and bleeding and wanted to board the cat at the vet’s. I explained that our policies will not cover any subsidy for boarding for such a case unless the boarding is justified necessary by the vet.

There are some items which we use in large quantities on a regular basis and these are :- 1. Disinfectants like bleach, eg. Clorox, Depex, etc.,2. Dishwashing liquid to clean the food / water bowls,3. Petfood, both canned and dry are always welcome4. RICE!!! We use about 15kg each day so will go through 100+ kg every week.5. Garbage bags We hope everyone can donate generously especially with the rice and petfood because we're using more food nowadays so that our animals can be stronger an...

The Pole Escapades Continues…

Pole’s in-built mechanism got to work again this morning.
After breakfast and a big clean-up, she jumped onto the gutter ledge to try her luck. One could see in her eyes that she was bent on escaping again.
Previously, there was a gap here, but it’s been sealed off by Ah Keong, the contractor.
Everybody loves the Pole Escapade Shows. Otherwise, life at Bunny’s Place can be pretty boring.

Baby Alligator Found In Small Aquarium At Restaurant

Nandhini sent me the photos below at midnight last night. Apparently, a restaurant in USJ is keeping a baby alligator (or crocodile) in a small aquarium. A quick check reveals that this species is protected and it may be breaking the law to keep this poor animal in a small aquarium.

It may be Chinese New Year and many superstitious Chinese would go “choi! choi! choi!” at the mention of death, but not for us, because the New Year is just like any other day for us – Life goes on, and life and death waits for no one. If one’s time is up, one goes.

I was sourcing a place for the dog that Mahesan wanted to rescue when PAWS’ manager told me about their Sponsor-a-Pet-Programme.
I think it is a really wonderful programme, especially for rescuers who have nowhere else to place their rescues. They can surrender the animal to PAWS and sponsor the animal for the rest of its life, subject to PAWS’ Sponsor-a-Pet-Programme policies.

Sunsuper Dreams Updates!! (Kenyan Dream Is Down To 9th Place)

It is now 3.30pm. I’m not at home, but my friends have just alerted me that the Kenyan Dream has had its votes reduced to 208 (and now, it has risen to 218 in barely ten minutes). It has also dropped from 2nd place to 9th position.
