Pole’s Polycarbonate – Done!
13th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

This morning, Pole made another attempt to escape through the gutter-gap.  But this time, we had hung clothes on the clothes line so she could not get a good foothold.  I’m learning.    Pole looks at the cat-grille but somehow, she decides not to try. I’m sure this is absolutely chicken-feed for her.  Not trying, Pole?  The contractor did not turn up yesterday, so I called him again today. He said he’d be coming in the morning. I cancelled all my plans just t...

One Female Cat Spayed (Aniza Abdullah’s)
13th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Recently, Aniza Abdullah brought a stray female cat (named Grey) to her vet in Shah Alam for spaying. We have subsidised RM100 for the procedure.   Join us in CNRM. For every street animal spayed-neutered, we prevent thousands of unwanted births and unnecessary suffering. C = Care N = Neuter R = Rehome/Return to colony M = Manage Our first priority is to REHOME the animal failing which we have no other option but to RETURN the animal to its colony. Returning to colony may not be ideal as ...

Pet Care Tip: Please do invest in the right hamster cage for your hamster. Cages with grilled floors, platforms, wheels and ladders are not ideal . A supporter shared with us how her hamster fatally injured itself by getting stuck in the grilled ladder. We certainly don’t want that to happen to your hamster. *Please share this tip on your wall

“This Is The Way I Ask For Help” – By Tabs
13th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

My husband said something really cute happened a few days ago while I was at work and before the cat-grille was installed. The cats were in the room and the wooden door was closed. Out of the blue, a yellow envelope (with my name on it) was slid under the door. Like so….(re-enacted to take photo): My husband opened the door, and who did he see? Little Tabs! Tabs sent an S.O.S. for me! Help..we’re stuck. We want out!! Where are you??

The Great Stand-Off With Gorilla-Cat
13th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Yesterday, while I was at work, my husband texted to say there was a great stand-off at Bunny’s Place with Mr Gorilla-Cat. At least, that’s what my husband decided to call that huge Cheshire-like cat who came to look down at our cats the previous day. Apparently, he came again yesterday morning and at the forefront was Cow, supported by Tiger (yes, Gandhi does stand-offs as well). The two did stand-off until Gorilla went away (supported by a quick spray with the garbage enzyme). This...

How To Get An Animal To Come Home
13th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

When Pole made her first major escape and the psychic told me he felt Pole was on her way back to the old house, I was frantic and I asked for help on the blog. Vivienne, bless her kind heart, sent me this: http://www.douban.com/group/topic/13979143/ Unfortunately, it was in Chinese and I’m shamefully illiterate in the written word, and I could not get anyone to translate it for me. Vivienne finally did (using google) and here it is: from google translate ^^ : 在灶台、炉台上放...

Pole Doesn’t Give Up (another Escape Attempt At Dusk)
13th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Yesterday evening, we let Pole out of the condo to stretch herself. It had been a very busy day for me, with contractors coming in to fix things. Unfortunately, the grille contractor did not come to fix the polycarbonate so Bunny’s Place is still not Pole-proofed yet. Anyway, we let her out under strict supervision. Pole sauntered to the sidegate (which we now call “Stargate” since it’s around here that everyone star-gazes to wait for the “mothership” to desce...

Indy’s Urine Test Results
13th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

This morning after work, I went straight to the clinic to get Indy’s urine test results. The urinalysis shows the presence of protein and leucocytes which suggests that Indy has an infection. One of the procedures would be to start Indy on antibiotics, but which one?  He already has a proven record of adverse reaction towards oral antibiotics. And the next question is, what is the cause of his infection? Is it toxoplasmosis? The blood test (thanks to the information from Jessy Lian) is av...

Picks Of The Week - Shenie & Pongo
12th Jan 2012, by SPCA Penang

Hello there,Shenie here. I am a 6 month old female and already very “lady-like”. I observe carefully and think before I bark. When I do bark I make sure it is loud and clear so that people will be alerted. The rest of the “boys” at the shelter seem to be barking all the time at everything that moves even just a bit. I love running and playing with toys, especiallyplastic bottles.I have been spayed, am really healthy in tip-top condition and have a beautiful black shiny coat.In the evenin...
