Geng Gebu - It Always Begins With A First-Time Experience 24th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
I first spoke to Nurul Hidayah when I was looking for an adopter for the Sunnies. Nurul called saying she wanted only Honeybear. But I wanted all three to be adopted together, so the Sunnies later went to Rozita instead.Recently, I was in touch with Nurul again when she offered to be a fosterer for KTAJ's three kittens whose mum-cat was sick and hospitalised. Nurul is a first-timer, and has no prior experience in fostering kittens, what more such young ones. While many would not trust a fir...

My Personal Grateful Thanks To Donors Of My New Book 23rd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
In mid-July I started writing my seventh book, and I finished the book by early August. Ask any writer, professional or amateur or struggling apprentice (like me!), and he'll tell you the easiest part is the writing. That's because we are in total control of the writing and we are in charge. The hard part is what comes after that - sourcing the cover designer and layout artist. Harder than that, is getting them to do what you want! Now, finally, after much hard work, the book is ready to go to pri...

We are proud to announce a "record-breaking" collection of RM7332 in one week, which now enables us to purchase 105 bags of dogfood (Brand: Top Ration from Eagle, 18kg each). I have already ordered the food, and will arrange for delivery sometime next week. A Female Cat Neutered, The Male Later 23rd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
Wei Seong wrote to me sometime ago and asked if we could sponsor the spay-neuter of two kittens whom he had adopted from a rescuer. Our policies do cater for such cases, depending on the financial position of the caregiver.Once adopted, the responsibility of caring for the animal lies with the adopter, but in our efforts to encourage people to adopt street animals (and not buy from breeders), we will support by sponsoring the spay-neuter if it is within 6 months of being adopted and IF the adopt...

A Male Cat Neutered 23rd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
Vicky Khoo wrote to me a few days ago about getting a male cat neutered. This cat lives at her housing area and is being looked after by one of the security guards, Rodiah.(Doesn't he look almost exactly like Tiger?) This morning, Vicky and Rodiah brought the cat to our panel vet. The cat has now been neutered and is doing fine. Vicky needs one night's boarding and she and Rodiah will pay for that. The neutering charges is sponsored from our funds. We are always glad to help any stray animal ...

Baloo's New "Sentry Post" 23rd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
I'm sure you've noticed how most cats like to sleep on high places? We call this Cleo's sentry post. When Cleo is off duty, Cow takes over.We also have a back sentry post, let me look for the photos later and I'll post them up here. That would be Tiger and Bunny's territory. They oversee the black alley....for unauthorised trespassers. Well, Baloo is learning this cat trait... Baloo simply loves Bunny's pink box. Well, it's not very high, but it's higher than being on the floor! ...

From Jessy Lian:Hi Dr.Chan,Ah Yee is my family's beloved female cat. That time my alley is still not gated.Cookie is 1 of my alley cats whom was diagnosed with FeLV a few months back. He is now healthy & didn't develop any FeLV symptoms.Rocky is another 1 of my alley cats. He was found in my street the day after my dog pass away - 14 Oct 2008.Thi...

Updates On 23rd Sep 2011 23rd Sep 2011, by SPCA Selangor
You got tired of me and took me to the shelter. They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number. I am in a black plastic bag in a landfill now. Some other puppy will get the barely used leash you left. My collar was dirty and too small, but the lady took it off before she sent me to the Rainbow Bridge . Would I still be at home if I hadn’t chewed your shoe? I didn’t know what it was, but it was leather, and it was on the floor. I was just playing. You forgot to get puppy toys. Would I sti...

While I Was Packing Tshirts... 23rd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
I'm taking a break from tshirt packing, stock-checking and rearranging them into new boxes. A new stock of Gold tshirts just arrived yesterday and I hadn't even had time to check the stock yet. But this time, I have two helpers...the Fuzzy Lumpkin Sisters (still fuzzy because of today's Frontlining). A new stock of Gold.Old is always gold. Our Gold tshirts are still selling very well. I managed to get some same-sized boxes to store the tshirts so that I can stack them up nea...

For Adoption: Scamp, The Dog With The Soulful Eyes 22nd Sep 2011, by Second Chance
Scamp, this 6-year old Australian Cattle and Spitz mix, was brought to the Paws Mission adoption drive by KL Pooch Rescue on the day of the event itself - which meant he was surrounded by lots of unfamiliar people and dogs. Instead of being stressed, which wouldn't have been surprising at all, he was so extremely gentle and accommodating about everything.Read more about our doggie story here »

The Blueys Are Still Here 22nd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
It's 5.30pm now and the potential adopter isn't here yet. Perhaps she is not coming today. Just as well because I've decided to foster the Blueys for awhile more in light of Baloo's skin infection. She has just started on the povidone iodine and Vetri DMG and I'd like her to settle down with it and see some improvement first. Bunny came to visit last night...er, to eat, I mean. Our little one was a most gracious host...Why, hello Uncle Bunny! Welcome, welcome....how nice of you...
