S.O.S – Help Needed Urgently To Rescue An Injured Dog In Cheras 18th Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
I just received an sms and a call from a lady named Rohani (016-9063127) from Cheras.
According to her, the residents in her area beat up a street dog last night, causing the poor dog to be unable to use its hind legs. It can only crawl around with its front legs now. Currently, Rohani has fed the dog some cat kibble and the dog has eaten. It is resting under a car (it is raining now). Rohani is very worried that the same residents might beat the dog again and she is appealing for help to rescue...

Why Haven't The Local Councils Changed Their Ways? 18th Nov 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
LOCAL councils are the biggest dog abusers in the country. We have said this over and over and over again. We have conceptualized and executed exposes, jumped over fencing and taken photographs, confronted the Selangor state government as well as written to the Federal Government to put an end to abuse of dogs by local councils in Selangor.Yet, nothing much has happened since and this is because of the interference of Anthony Sivabalan Thanasayan with the help of Selangor executive counci...

TWO NEW CASES 18th Nov 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
1) Independent Pet Rescuers' Sherrina Krishnan called today asking if we could help a mother and five puppies that were rescued by Roselin last Sunday. Apparently the family had tested positive for Parvovirus and the clinic they were in could not keep them much longer. We do have a quarantine room for parvo patients but given that our HWH is bursting at its seams, we did not risk placing the puppies there. So we asked for the family to be brought to our panel vet in Klang where they were ...

Saturday Morning Tragedy 18th Nov 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
As we were rushing to complete our daily chores at the HWH before going to Gasing for Justice's surgery on Sat, we stumbled upon a very sad sight on the way to the market to purchase our daily ration of meat and liver. We saw two puppies with maggot wounds in a small padang on the way to the market. We aborted our plan and rushed the puppies to our Klang panel clinic. Our vet told us that the wounds looked about a week old and the maggots had eaten their way really deep inside the puppy with t...

OLD LABRADOR IN NEED OF HELP. 18th Nov 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
Someone posted here about a dog residing in Wat Chetawan in Jalan Gasing needing help. MDDB members responded and the dog and old Labrador was brought to Gasing this Saturday. She had TVT and a bad case of fungal infection. She has been given the first jab for TVT and also given meds. We need someone to help coordinate to ensure that she is being given the meds because we feel the monks may not have the time to do so. Apparently one of them bought this old lady and another Labrador ...

In Loving Memory Of Jackie (Catherina Tay’s) 18th Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
As pledged, we have sponsored a sum of RM297, which is 50% of Jackie’s treatment while boarded at UPM before she succumbed to the disease (Hemobart and kidney insufficiency).
In turn, Catherina is re-donating the entire sum back to our fund as hers and Jackie’s contribution to help other animals.
We thank Catherina for her very noble and generous gesture.
Yesterday was the 7th day anniversary of Jackie’s passing.
Jackie must be in a better place now. Maybe as Catherina’s ...

Updates On Kitty-4 18th Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2011/11/kitty-4-back -to-the-vets/
I just managed to check with the vet. Kitty-4 have worms, so all have been dewormed. They have diarrhoea as well, but can’t be sure which ones are having it. One is particularly quiet, so that’s a bit worrying. The vet is also a bit worried they may have a viral infection.
I hope they will make it.

Be A Street Animal Defender 18th Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
Below is a message from Humane Society International:
Think about the dog in your life and what makes him or her so special. Maybe it’s her silly grin and sneezy bark that welcomes you at the door. Or perhaps it’s how his tail wags wildly as he “patiently” waits for his meal. Whatever it is, your dog owns your heart. But can you imagine that instead of your beloved friend living with you in a safe home, he lived on the streets?
For street dogs around the world, it’s a vastly differ...

Kitty-4 Back To The Vet’s 18th Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2011/10/found-foster er-for-5-abandoned-kittens/
If you remember, on 25th October, Kitty-5, five tiny kittens, were dumped in a box outside our panel vet’s clinic. Our vet asked me to help look for a fosterer, and I found one that day itself. So, Kitty-5 were sent to her and all seemed well.
The agreement was that once the kitties could eat kibble on their own, the vet would take them back and put them up for adoption.
Last week, the fosterer informed me that ...

Gluey: Unstuck And Saved 17th Nov 2011, by Noah's Ark CARES
Gluey went through a very traumatic experience to get his name. His rescuers are the longest serving volunteers from Noah’s Ark. These days, on the weekends when they visit Noah’s Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary, they take the drive out to look for unsterilised and injured cats so they can be treated before being returned to where they were caught. One day, as they were going about their usual round of trapping stray cats, they discovered Gluey near a drain. He just looked dirty from far...
