Hyon Sim is also from HELP Institute. Here's what she has to say about her experience at the shelter.Hi, my name is Hyon Sim and I am from Korea. At first when I got to the Second Chance, which is behind the Wisma Buddist , my feet started to shake and I felt very scary because I was afraid of dogs. I have never touched a dog before and every time when I see dogs it just made me scared. Anyhow, being with dogs wasn’t very easy for me. Every time when dogs passed by, jumped or barked made me...

28 Dogs Rescued From Euthanasia 24th Feb 2012, by PetFinder.my
Good job to Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue (MIAR) that rescued numerous dogs from DBKL!
The stray issues in Malaysia are overwhelming, and we need every ounce of energy and effort from animal lovers to help improve the situation. We can all play a role in this, starting from properly managing and caring for our own pets at home.
Photos of the rescue can be seen below, and may their efforts inspire many others to follow suit:

Maximum Security….finally!! (the New Pole-Indy-Proof Grille) 23rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
I had been waiting for the contractor, Ah Keong, to call me ever since he took the whole cat-grille back to figure out how best to cat-proof Bunny’s room.
Voila…today, he called!!
He came over with the full-length grille – added up from the old one. And he cleverly made a rectangular hole so that I could open the latch from inside the room. There is no latch on the inside (in case Pole figures out how to open latches, you’ll never know, right?).
Nice?
Actually, never m...

Bobby’s Acupuncture Today 23rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Bobby had his fortnightly acupuncture session by Dr Susanna today.
Not much objection this time.
I notice Bobby has actually improved a lot (clinically) after all these acupuncture sessions. Also, the daily evening walks in the sun help a lot. It feels like he has more muscle now, and his appetite is much, much improved.
Prick, prick…
Happy and relaxed after the session.

The Blueys – Spayed On Monday And Doing Well! (Andy Lew’s) 23rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Blueys news is always happy news, isn’t it?
Well, the Blueys were spayed on Monday and they boarded a night at the vet’s too. Andy brought them to a clinic near his place and apparently, the rate is only RM180 for each spaying and it includes one night’s boarding (that’s really good, right?). This vet uses the flank (side) method and also provides the e-collar.
Some vets do not use the e-collar as it stresses the animal, but some do. In one case sponsored by us, the cat b...
