This Tops The List, Doesn’t It? 29th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Today seems to be a day where lady luck isn’t shining on us.
First thing, this lady who calls herself a rescuer (with a rather unpleasant history with us) applied for a subsidy for the spaying of a cat (by the way, she asked her daughter to claim on behalf of her and I only found out after I keyed in the bank account no, and her name appeared!). The money was banked in about a month ago, and there was no acknowledgement from her or her daughter at all. I called her two days ago to ask if s...

For the benefit of those readers who are not aware, Macy was one of our shelter dogs who was adopted by this lovely...

Better Watch What We Watch 29th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, I watched a most horrible movie which has, unfortunately, been hailed as a “hot movie” amongst the younger generation.
It tells of a time in the future where a great (failed) revolution had taken place, and to punish the people who fought in the revolution, each district would have to send two of their young people (a boy and a girl) to fight to the death in the “games” which is a TV game show watched and cheered on by millions of viewers.
The movie shows how y...

Where Can We Get Real “kampung Eggs”? 29th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
I was talking to two people who are in the “free-range egg” or more popularly known as “kampung egg” industry and here’s what they told me.
Apparently, according to these two people, “ayam kampung” is just a breed of chickens. They are not really free-range. The chickens are left to grow up freely until they are 6 months old, then they are also caged and made to produce eggs, which are then sold as “telur ayam kampung” or “free-range eg...

Stop Whistler Sled Dog Cruelty 29th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
In April 2010, Canadian Bob Fawcett brutally massacred his 100 sled dogs due to a supposedly “slow winter season”. The murders were discovered when he tried to get government compensation for distress.
The description of the horrendous and absolutely barbaric murders can be found in the link below.

If you are looking for a dog which is:- intelligent- friendly and sweet-natured- not too big- low maintenancethen Flower might just be the right one for you! A few months back when Second Chance had a training programme for selected dogs, Flower came out as one of the fastest learners. You can read more about the programme here. She is also really good with humans. She seems to think that hand-licking is the key to a human's heart - not saying her theory is wrong! Flower would make a good family...
