Indy’s Acupuncture Today 27th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Indy had his acupuncture treatment today…
After the needles went in, he was put in the carrier, as usual.
He complained and tried to open the lock.
I think he was already feeling better compared to the last two days when all he did was to sleep. Well, sleep is very healing; that’s when the body heals itself as much as it can.
Time’s up. The needles can come off now.
Dr Susanna said Indy has a weak-qi and weak-blood problem, in Chinese medical terms. It is not anaemia, th...

I dropped in to enquire about Caty today and was informed that she is physically doing well, but having a big problem with the e-collar. Her eye enucleation needed external sutures, hence, the e-collar is of great importance. But Caty is still adjusting to and resisting the collar and has not learnt to eat with it. So, the vet is still handfeeding her.
The vet would prefer to keep her one more night to ensure that all i...

Sweetie Sweetie Pie! 26th Apr 2012, by Second Chance
The doctor may tell you that too much of sweet stuff is not good for your health. How about too much of Sweetie? Quite the contrary to the 1st sentence of this blog, we are pretty sure Sweetie would be good for your soul.Known to her fosterer/rescuer as being sweet natured and loving, she would be the perfect loyal companion anyone could ever ask for.Sweetie was involved in an accident not too long ago, her left hind leg was broken and is not 100% mended. Hence she now walks with a slight limp. ...

Fosterer Needed For Kucing (Kamaruzaman’s) 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Updates from Dr Dev:
Hi Dr Chan,
Attached is the latest pic of Kucing. He needs to be handfed. He is otherwise ok but still hasnt gone to toilet or eating by himself. Very accepting of food given to him though up to a certain point. Bill so far RM951. He needs fostering but the guy who brought him in says no money to pay for his tin food and also no cage to keep and also cannot look after as he himself has a kid. So looks like I have to take care of him unless a kind fosterer can do that.
Kind R...

New Claim Forms 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Today, we’ve had three cases where applicants filled up our forms wrongly again, claiming for 100% subsidy for medical treatment instead of the agreed 50%. In all three cases, this is the second time it has happened.Despite my repeated explanation that our subsidy is only 50%, applicants still fill up 100%. I don’t understand why.
This makes our work very hard because every claim form is audited.
In view of this, we have revised our forms.
To all applicants – kindly download ou...

4 Puppies For Adoption (Steve Mettler’s) 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
From Steve:
Hi Dr Chan
My Wife and I rescued these 4 pups from the compound of an electrical station, they were running under the fence into the street and in danger of getting hit by passing cars. They are about 4 to 5 months old. They are now fully vaccinated , dewormed and spayed/neutered. They are trained to do their business on puppy pads (which they do very well) and they like to sleep in crates (with doors opened) lined with towels.
My Wife and I are going to be moving back to the ...

Happy Tails From SPCA! 26th Apr 2012, by SPCA Selangor
APRIL 2012 - "Hello SPCA! This is Sasa, the adorable cow-coloured dog that we've adopted from SPCA Ampang last year, on the 14th of April. So, today's her first unofficial birthday! Sasa was a victim of animal cruelty as some heartless person scalded her with hot water when she was only a puppy. A Malay man with a heart of gold brought her to the SPCA when he discovered the wounded puppy. Sasa survived the ordeal but now bears a huge scar on her back. We noticed her at the SPCA when we saw her s...
