苏菲亚 SOPHIA 9th Aug 2012, by Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (HOPE)
Sophia was rescued from Batu Pahat (BP) by our volunteer recently. She was lying side way, with stinky smell from her seriously injured foreleg. The wounds were badly infected and full with pus, even with broken bones stuck out from the flesh. We can barely see any motivation for life in her eyes but only great pain, hopeless and loneliness.... Do you want to know why Sophia was in this stage of life? According to the locals, this is all thanks to the dog catchers from local council, her brok...

To Neuter Or Not To Neuter – Is There Still A Question? 8th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
Mrs Wong shared this: http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/l eisure/2012/08/07/to-neuter-or-not-to-neuter/
We 8217;ve written many times about the benefits of getting animals neutered, but it doesn’t hurt to arm ourselves with the latest statistics to convince others to do it too.
According to the article above, 5 million unwanted animals are euthanised every year in Malaysian shelters (by simple arithmetic, the 575 figure per day in the article seems to be wrong). Even if that fig...

Spaying And Vaccination Subsidy For 1 Female Dog (Jane Wee Chui Yong’s) 8th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
We have subsidised RM120 for the spaying of Jingle, a street dog, and also RM20 for her vaccination. Jingle was brought in by Jane Wee Chui Yong.
Here’s something about Jingle, written by Jane:
After feeding Jingle for two weeks, I managed to gain her trust. One day, I opened my car door and asked her to come in. She hopped in. Then I drove to the vet. For a first-timer, she was calm and even enjoyed the scenery. We reached the vet and I asked her to follow me. She was so obedient, she fo...

ACTS From Batu Pahat Starts Its Own CNRM Subsidy Programme!! 7th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
Ahh…this is the best present for me today – ACTS of Batu Pahat, under the leadership of Angie Ng Chew Khui, has started a CNRM subsidy programme, modeled after ours.
Their procedures:
This is exactly what I had been hoping for since we started our programme three years ago – that other groups of people will start their own programmes in their respective towns.
ACTS has its own panel vet in Batu Pahat now. That was how we started three years ago too – with 6 pan...

Looking For Pet-Taxi Contacts 7th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
A reader has written in asking if we could share contact details of taxi drivers who are willing to ferry rescued animals in their vehicles.
If you know of any, please do share their contact details by leaving a comment on this post. Thank you!
Dear Dr Chan,
I’m sure many animal lovers are trying to implement TNRM for their
community strays but since most of us are salary workers working
during the weekdays, we are unable to transport the strays to the vet
clinics for neutering/spaying dur...

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/07/21/an-update -on-the-case-of-the-indah-water-dogs/
If you remember, we had urged Ah Fatt to go to the pound to retrieve the mother-dogs and puppies that had been captured by the local council, but by the time Ah Fatt finally located the pound, he was told there were no mother-dogs and puppies there.
As for the remaining dogs at the Indah Water facility, apparently, the local council truck has been going in to capture the dogs. Ah Fatt thinks there might have...
