Baggy’s Updates 1st Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
Baggy’s appetite is back to normal again. Thankfully, she has been obediently taking her medicine every day…so far. I have to give her the Doxycycline for 21 days! In fact, the vet says the latest research says it should be taken for 30 days, but we can go with 21 days. But no less.
And today is only Day 3. Hopefully, she doesn’t learn any tricks from Cow or Pole (about resisting during the pill-popping sessions).
Before I forget, I thought I should share this. For FIP or suspe...

2 Puppies Need A Home Or Shelter Urgently (Suzanne Moi’s) 1st Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
If you are able to help these 2 puppies, please contact Suzanne directly.
Should Suzanne be unable to find shelter for these puppies, our suggestion is to foster them until they are of better health and condition and PAWS may be another option to consider since she has approached many shelters and none is able to take in the puppies.

Protecting Turtles 31st Jul 2012, by Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia
Date: 30th July 2012
Source: New Straits Times
THERE’S nothing new in the call to ban the sale of turtle eggs by [Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia] co-founder Professor Chan Eng Heng on Friday. Conservationists have been urging the Terengganu government to do so for some time. World Sea Turtle Day on June 16 in the east coast state co-organised by World Wide Fund for Nature-Malaysia (WWF-Malaysia) had the theme “Don’t buy or eat turtle eggs”. In fact, Terengganu ha...

Life Can Only Get Better For Mandy 31st Jul 2012, by Second Chance
Aunty Kiew called and told me she has rescued a little pup with an injured hind leg from some bushes. She has heard the cries of the pup for the past 2-3 days but gave no thought to it thinking a mother dog was with the pup. But this morning she could not hold her curiosity anymore and decided to jump over the fence to take a good look. What she saw broke her heart, the pup was crying not only because of the pain but also she also must be very hungry. She took her back to the shel...

Update On KAY (fostered By SCRATCHers) 31st Jul 2012, by SCRATCH

Adoption Spotlight 31st Jul 2012, by SPCA Singapore
Sweet and lovely Tic Tac has not had it easy at all. Her first owner gave her up because she does what all cats like doing - climbing cabinets. Her second owner couldn't even be bothered to surrender her to us properly but left her on our doorstep and rushed off without a backward glance. Despite such rude rejections, this 2.5yo girl has retained her affectionate kitty nature. Only those who will give Tic Tac a forever home need apply. No more wishy-washy owners please!
Need to know more about ...

Gratitude Is The Fairest Blossom Which Springs From The Soul… 31st Jul 2012, by AnimalCare
And it applies to both humans and animals…
Here’s looking at some old photos from six years back when Tiger first came to our household. At that time, Cow, Bunny and Pole were about 4 months old and we had not planned on adopting anymore cats, but a rescue group asked me to foster Tiger for a few weeks after which they would take him back for adoption. They did not take him back, so Tiger ended up living with us.
Cow, Bunny and Pole were jealous of Tiger and did not want to accept...

“Operation Pink Nose” For Baggy 31st Jul 2012, by AnimalCare
I stopped by at the vet’s today to ask if Baggy could be dewormed yet. The vet said he too thought of doing that but did not want to do too much yesterday as Baggy was really weak and pale, but since I asked, he said it’s a very good idea to deworm her, in case worms are part of the burden on her health. Hookworms are particularly dangerous to young cats.
So I’ve dewormed Baggy now and I’ll need to continue monitoring her respiration pattern. The reason she was breathing ...

Baggy Says “thank You” To Everyone 31st Jul 2012, by AnimalCare
It rained this morning, so I quickly got up to check on Baggy.
She was fine, and was with Bunny in the pantry.
Everyone had breakfast, but Baggy didn’t want her AD. She wanted Natural Balance, just like everyone else.
The after-breakfast sojourn in the room since it was raining outside.
This is Baggy’s special seat – the drawer beside me!
AD for brunch.
Eat up, Baggy.
Thank you for all your advice and suggestions. I’ll check with the vet when she can be dewormed ...

Baggy Eats And Jumps High Up 30th Jul 2012, by AnimalCare
It’s almost midnight now. Baggy just had a fair bit of AD for supper. The vet had said AD helps to make blood, so since Baggy is still quite pale, I thought regular doses of AD should be able to help her regain some colour and health.
This is her favourite “perch” every evening. I fed her here as she did not want to join the rest at the pantry. Also, everyone was going after the AD!
After eating, I thought I should try and see if she was willing to sleep in the condo, but th...

Baggy’s Temperature Is Normal 30th Jul 2012, by AnimalCare
Baggy ate a few rounds of AD and this evening, she also ate a bit of her Natural Balance food.
We took her temperature this evening at about 7pm and it was 38.2 degrees, which is normal.
I’m really praying hard that it is just a blood parasite or something not so serious and that the Doxycycline will take care of it. The possibility of it being FIP is still there as she is still quite pale. The only consolation so far is that her fever has subsided.
All afternoon, she just wanted to res...
