Etta James Nurses Chitam, The Black Kitty 19th Nov 2012, by AnimalCare
If you remember, Rozita (bless her kind heart) offered to foster a black kitty about a week ago. It’s been one week already and Etta James’ fosterer has very kindly offered to take over the fostering now.
Rozita has named the kitty “Chitam”.
We wish to thank Rozita very much for doing such a wonderful job (being a human-mum, feeding Chitam every two hours and providing Chitam with love, care and warmth), and now, Etta James’ fosterer for taking over since Rozita wil...

Sunshine Needs A Fosterer For 2 Weeks In December 19th Nov 2012, by AnimalCare
Hi everyone,
Lydia will be going away for 2 weeks (3rd – 17th December) and we are helping to look for a fosterer for Sunshine during this duration.
If you are able to help, please email Lydia at 4pawsitivecare@gmail.com.
Since Sunshine is our sponsored animal and under the care of Lydia, you have our word that you will not be “dumped” with Sunshine (I understand many fosterers are afraid of being dumped with the animal when they offer to foster!).
According to Lydia, Sunshine...

Spotlight on: Sunda Pangolin
Last week we shared the rescue story of Little Dumpling the pangolin. Here’s some more information about these unusual mammals.
A pangolin’s body is covered with tough scales made out of keratin- the same stuff our nails and hair are made from. When threatened, pangolins curl up into a ball, with their tough scales forming a protective outer covering.
They eat ants and termites, scooping them up with a long, sticky tongue which can be up to 40cm long! The...

Jessica Chia (J.C.) from Chapman University has done some silkscreen paintings (in the style of Andy Warhol's prints) based on the photos of dogs at Noah's Ark and will be selling them as paintings, coffee table books, merchandise (like notebooks and diaries). She has generously offered to give half of the profits to Noah's Ark. Her theme and mission would be to encourage the public to adopt or at least sponsor a dog, and to discourage cruelty towards stray dogs in Malaysia and Singapore. If ...

More Food Stories… 19th Nov 2012, by AnimalCare
This is my second batch of wheatgrass. So far, so good.
I purchase it online: https://www.facebook.com/petgrass
Ever since adding wheatgrass into every meal, I don’t see a hairball problem in my cats anymore. And the best thing is, wheatgrass is a source of nutrition and they love it! – yes, all 7 of them too.
And, everyone is eating raw meat now. I would mix raw meat (with the skin), liver, wheatgrass and cooked veges first…
Then add either…
Natural Balance,...

Fostering A Special Needs Dog 19th Nov 2012, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
Let me tell you all about my lovely foster dog, Lucy. She is a beautiful 5-year-old female de-sexed golden retriever. She greets you with the biggest grin, loves to be a lap dog regardless of her size and just thrives on attention.
I first met Lucy in 2010 as she had a very sore eye. Her initial full eye examination made me think she had a severe case of conjunctivitis. After multiple treatments with different eye ointments and oral anti-inflammatories, I was concerned about the episcleral ...

Meet Lego, a lovely lost pup who had to have one leg removed after being struck by a car. A veterinarian did her surgery for free and today Lego lives with her 'mom' Mary Dyck in B.C. Canada.
"Since her accident, she hasn't let anything slow her down," Mary explains. "She can hike, swim, jump, wrestle.. And run faster than most 4 legged dogs! For a dog that had such a rough start to her life, she's remarkably balanced and issue free. She ADORES children, and wiggles her bum in a mad fury when...

Hello There, Wii!! 18th Nov 2012, by AnimalCare
Wii and Vixey were my rescues way back in 2008. Vixey, a lovely black kitten, was a pygmy (in other words, she was retarded) and had brain degeneration. She lived for two years only. After Vixey passed away, the Cow & Bunny pair chased poor Wii out of the house (into the back alley). Wii lived there quite happily with Tiger as his only friend. Tiger would be in the backyard to accompany him.
Wii was okay until he started mewing whenever he came home for food, and this angered a neighbour tre...

Training The Cow Mau Not To Spray….(but Can It Even Be Done?) 18th Nov 2012, by AnimalCare
Plan A was to use the air filter. The filter is good, but it could not remove all the smells.
Plan B was to paint the room. That did not quite work too. I think the urine had already seeped into the walls (in places which I failed to spot, or failed to wipe off immediately).
Plan C was to tile the room, and that has helped a lot as wiping the Cow Mau’s spray spots is made easier now. Hopefully, it’s cleaner too for surely his urine cannot possibly seep INTO the tiles, right? The day ...
