Star Wars (a.k.a. “Starry”) Joins The Fray
25th Jan 2013, by AnimalCare

Star Wars (the new tabby with long legs) had been coming to the patio quite a bit lately. I think he is an abandoned pet (together with Willy of Orange) and being newly abandoned, he may not have ready survival skills so he must be hungry. Unfortunately, Ginger has been chasing him out from our house and when we feed him outside the house, Timmy would always get to the food first. The smell of food does not escape Timmy’s nose. He’d smell it from miles away and he is always, always h...

“Animals don't behave like men,' he said. 'If they have to fight, they fight; and if they have to kill they kill. But they don't sit down and set their wits to work to devise ways of spoiling other creatures' lives and hurting them. They have dignity and animality.” (Richard Adams, Watership Down)

Close Encounters Of A Slithery Kind
25th Jan 2013, by AnimalCare

A few days ago, my husband asked me if I had noticed that our front doormat had been terribly ruffled. That morning, I had rushed off to work and had not really noticed this. Why, I asked? He said when he went to work (which was after me), he saw a dead snake with a triangle head (that’s the poisonous kind, right?) near our shoe rack. YIKES!! I screamed. How come I did not see it on my way out? Yikes, yikes, yikes! “It was only a very small one”, he said, consoling me. But how ...

Inspectorate 2013 Cases
24th Jan 2013, by SPCA Singapore

We recently attended a case of 5 sparrows stuck on a glue board trap meant for rats at an office building on Henderson Rd. Although the trap was meant for rats and inconspicuously placed under a fridge, the sparrows were still able to get stuck on it. One of them was dead at scene. We tried our best to save the remaining four, but as more than 3/4 of their small bodies were covered in glue, very sadly, we were unable to. The board was placed by a licensed pest control company hired by the build...

PIG VISION - The Journey Of Two Brothers
24th Jan 2013, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Which pig would you rather be? X15, or Jackpot? Jackpot is a lucky pig: His home is a sanctuary, where he can live a long and happy piggy life! Sadly, most pigs are not as lucky as Jackpot. Most spend their whole lives on factory farms being raised for meat, or being made to reproduce over and over again. This eye-opening video exposes the difference between the way pigs are meant to and deserve to live, and the way most pigs are kept (and eventually slaughtered). The only difference betwe...
