A Request From Pak Din (help Needed)
18th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

Pak Din (Nordin Hashim) comes under our Food Fund. He is 64 years old, unemployed and has no proper home. Pak Din lives in Gombak in a make-shift shack (which our reader, Connie James, very kindly refurbished for him recently). Although he barely has enough for himself, he looks after the stray dogs and cats in his community despite being ostracised because of cultural prejudices (against dogs) in this community. Pak Din’s plight was highlighted to me by my friend, Chew Teng Ngin. Mr Chew ...

18th Oct 2012, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

DUKE THE HEROIC DOG SAVES BABY A wonderful example of an adopted mixed-breed dog that saved the baby of the family that showered him with love. Another awesome reason to ADOPT a canine buddy! A Connecticut family says they've always loved their dog, but that adoration has reached a whole new level after the pup helped save the life of their infant daughter. Jenna Brousseau said their dog, Duke, jumped up on her bed Sunday night and woke up her and her husband with its shaking. She said that...

Spaying Subsidy For 2 Female Dogs And Medical Subsidy For 8 Puppies (Magdalene Sim Eng May’s)
18th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

Magdalene Sim called me on the phone sometime back requesting help with subsidies for her rescued dogs. She is not IT-savvy, so she asked if her friend could write on her behalf and email the photos to me. I said that is possible, but as per our policy, the reimbursement will be banked into Magdalene’s bank account. Magdalene also said she would not claim for the medical treatment of the dog as she had already paid for that herself. She just needed help with the spaying charges (as she had...

Kelly Brauer of Florida writes: "There was a little ball of bloody matted fur that I rescued that had been used as a bait dog. She had puncture wounds all over her body, her tail had been bitten in half and her underbelly had been filleted open. All she could muster was some raspy moans and whines. I knew she would not make it if I didn't act fast. I wrapped her in a warm blanket and quickly made it to the nearest animal emergency room where it was believed that she wouldn't make it through ...

As The Day Ends…
17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/10/17/very-urge nt-doghunt-tomorrow-in-pj-please-protect-your-dogs / Ah, as the day ends now, I dearly hope all our animals are safe and sound. We would all do well to always keep our animals safe from the possible dangers lurking out there. As my post said (and very clearly too), it was just a tip-off and I was not sure whether it was reliable or not, but it pays to be on the alert. A few days ago, a friend’s dog was captured. He was devastated. If only ...

17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

Whenever my husband goes off to work, Bosco (and now, even Raven) comes into the house. They know when they can come in…(shh). This afternoon, Bosco was comfortably sitting on the sofa next to me. That’s when I noticed how “grey” his white patches were. It’s supposed to be white, but it’s all grey. Greasy, I think… So, being such a hot day, I thought it might be good to…. …give Bosco a bath! So I carried him, the poor guy was so, so trustin...

Products That Are Not Tested On Animals
17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

Hi folks, as a follow-up to the post from PETA on refraining from using products that are tested on animals, here’s a sharing from me on what I use at home. As far as I’m told, Amway products are not tested on animals. We use LOC for practically every sort of cleaning purpose and Dish Drops for the dishes but we’ve found that LOC is better at cleaning dishes than Dish Drops! LOC is really good as it is very economical and versatile. We can even wash our clothes with it. And it...

Are You Paying For Animal Testing? (from PETA)
17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

This is from PETA: Are you paying for tests on animals? For many compassionate people just like you, the answer could unintentionally be yes. Right now many unsuspecting consumers are purchasing products from companies that continue to conduct cruel—and entirely unnecessary—tests that will cost countless animals their lives. This includes some corporations that have publicly stated that they are against animal tests! Major companies like Revlon, Avon, Mary Kay, and Estée Lauder have gone ba...
