16th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

15th Oct 2012, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase

"This is Ella. She was found on the side of a road in this current condition. A very nice lady brought her to the Dirk’s Fund Golden Retriever shelter to see if we could help her. She was only 34 lbs. You could count every bone in her body. She had to be carried to the scale and to her dog bed because she had no strength. She could barely keep her head up. Still, she would give kisses and LOVED her new bed. The veterinarian’s assessment of her was "we will see if she makes it through tomorr...

World’s Best Cat Litter And The Outside Clan
14th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

How can you say “no” to these faces, right?  Dinner time! But Bosco is satisfied with what he had for teatime, so he stays where he is.  I’m happy, not greedy…  Raven’s minyak treatment, with organic tumeric powder.  Minyak kuning-ed!  You just got to love this guy. He thinks he is my bodyguard and follows me everywhere whenever I go outside. And do you know, he has stopped coming inside the house now. I attribute that to my husband’s “train...

Below, photos of Mr Low with the dogs.  Whatever we provide is still not enough, so Mr Low collects unsold bread from certain stores every week to supplement.  The land is completely barren. Dogs are dumped here by people.

On A Clear Day, You Can See Forever
14th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

I love Barbra Streisand and her songs. This afternoon, as I sat on the sofa looking out, her song, “On a clear day, you can see forever” came to mind… On a clear day, rise and look around you And you’ll see who you are On a clear day, how it will astound you That a glow of your being, outshines every star You’ll feel part of Ev’ry mountain, sea, and shore You can hear from far and near A world you’ve never heard before And on a clear day, on that clear d...

Early this morning as I was feeding my outside clan, I spotted Francis and Mukda at the Cat Breakfast Pavilion. Francis is a consultant engineer, very busy running his own firm, but has time to do this every morning. He packs the food in paper packs and cleans up after the cats finish eating.  That’s Mukda patting Rosie and Ginger. While waiting for the cats to finish breakfast, Francis does his morning exercise.  Bosco and Raven are eating Quit today. Raven eats more than Bosco! Mu...

The Press Conference On Illegal Trespassing By Dogcatchers And Other Related Issues
14th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare

The press conference happened today and we were invited to be part of the panel. Of course, we support the issue raised by MDDB, so I attended the PC.  It was full house.  A lady was invited to speak about her experience where dogcatchers entered her compound when no one was home and took her dogs away.  Besides the video clip of the latest case in Ampang Jaya, another one was shown where a young boy related what he saw – how some adults cornered a dog and drowned the dog inside a dr...

But Singapore animal welfare group ACRES said on Saturday that it welcomes the latest news. ACRES' chief executive Louis Ng said, "It has sent a very strong message out. A judge has reviewed the case, they've reviewed the literature and have agreed that this re-export shouldn't take place.
