Visiting Mr Quack 20th Dec 2012, by AnimalCare
Today had been a very hectic day, but we found time to drop in to visit Mr Quack.
He was sleeping when we went in to see him and he seemed quite at peace, what with Sheila Majid on his newspaper, he almost looked innocent.
But before our visit, I had called to enquire how he is. Apparently, he was intimidating a fellow (unsuspecting) cat who walked by to visit him. How did he intimidate that cat? He looked. Yes, he just LOOKED.
But he was clearly quite unhappy. My husband said it was more ...

Adoption Spotlight 20th Dec 2012, by SPCA Singapore
Fifi is a cat. She is a 4-year-old Persian to be exact. What does it mean to be a cat? It means she is completely secure in the knowledge that she is beautiful and lovely and expects you to know it; she wants to be left to snooze away the day anywhere in the house she pleases; when she wants affection, she will tell you and you will give it to her; she will need daily grooming for her long fur and may reward you with a bit of purring; from time to time, she may cough up a hairball and you will c...

A Happy (and Peaceful) Family Reunion 19th Dec 2012, by AnimalCare
‘Tis the season for peace and goodwill and also for happy family reunions.
Ginger was in the house all day. I guess he is so used to being here, albeit being caged, this is home for him, at least for now.
Later in the evening, Ginger came to call me. Yes, “call me”, as a dog would. He led me out and who did I find there?
It was Mr G! Ginger’s best friend (or father, we are not sure).
Ginger wanted me to feed Mr G.
And beside Mr G, was Daffodil!
Now, look at this…...

Mr G Returns! 19th Dec 2012, by AnimalCare
We all know how efficient CNN is in its news reporting.
And I don’t mean the human CNN. I mean the Cat News Network!
With the Quack gone, someone returned today…
Why, hello there, Mr G.
And how is your ear now?
Is it better already?
You’d wonder how they know, right? I mean, they don’t have handphones or emails, so how do they communicate? How did Mr G know that the Quack is gone?
It’s the vibrations, isn’t it?
Unlike us humans, highly evolved beings ...

The Quack “returns” (the Grand Finale) 19th Dec 2012, by AnimalCare
After consulting several very experienced cat caregivers, they told me that after seeing so many alpha-, mutant- and outer-space cats, territorial and aggressive behaviour does not change after neutering. The only thing that does change is the absence of the sexual urge. Several vets confirmed this too. Once territorial, usually still territorial.
Well, I have six titans who are neutered and spayed, so tell me about it. I totally agree.
So, you’ve got to detect whether an aggressive cat is...

A Peaceful Afternoon In My Quackless Neighbourhood 19th Dec 2012, by AnimalCare
It seemed strange…without the Quack.
It’s just too quiet.
But no, I’m NOT complaining, of course.
Rosie has taken back her favourite table…look at her sleep. If that doesn’t spell “peace”, tell me, what does?
Ginger came back for teatime.
Hi Ginger, come on down. I shook the Halo bottle, and he came down via the ledge and garbage compartment.
Yum, yum…I fed him his medicine and they had an early dinner.
You’ll be getting dinner s...

The Quack Successfully Transported To Clinic With No Incident 19th Dec 2012, by AnimalCare
It was a good two-and-a-half hours to wait before the clinic opened. I had texted the vet to inform him and asked if he had time to neuter this “terrorist cat”. He said okay.
Meanwhile, I left it to my husband to secure the carrier. First, the Quack is afraid of him so he would do a better job at handling the carrier. Second, his King Scout and military experience ought to put him in a much better position to do the job.
As husband was securing the carrier, the Quack fought back and ...
