Rosie Vs Tabs? 20th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Poor Tabs has been the target of Bunny’s bullying for many days now, so whenever possible, we let her out.
She’s very happy when she is out.
But this morning, Rosie had also come into the house.
And Timmy too, but Timmy is a peaceful alien. I mean, cat.
Gone are the days where we think aliens want to conquer our planet. They are too smart for that! They come in peace now…sometimes in the guise of harmless feline furry friends.
So, Timmy doesn’t fight with Tabs. In fac...

A William-Vincent Showdown At Dawn 20th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
There was a showdown at dawn this morning….
It was between William and Vincent (aka Willy-O and Starry).
Who do you think is winning from the looks on their faces?
Vincent, actually. He can be really the I-stand-my-ground type. Passive aggressive?
I had to avert the fight, so very quickly, I rushed to the patio and made a breakfast call.
I broke protocol today, because normally I would feed Bunny & Friends first (to prevent possible jealousy attacks…on poor me). But it’s...

Go Veggie Once A Week! 20th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
How about a veggie Saturday today?
By doing so, each one of us will…
Save a few of the over 10 billion animals slaughtered for food – This is how many land animals are killed each year in the US alone. The majority of these animals have no laws to protect them from abuse and cruelty. They spend their entire lives suffering in inhumane conditions and mistreatment.
And collectively, we will save many, many more.

When To Help Baby Animals And When To Leave Them Alone 19th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
I think this is useful for all of us because once in a while, we would encounter baby animals even in our urban environment:
http://www.care2.com/causes/when-to-h elp-baby-animals-and-when-you-should-leave-them-al one.html
Start by taking a close look at the situation. Are you meeting this infant courtesy of a pet cat or dog? Is it bleeding, breathing heavily, or visibly distressed (crying, shivering, or moving in a way that suggests a broken bone)? Is there a dead adult animal nearby? If any ...

AMERICAN DIPLOMAT SAVES DOGS ALONG CONGO RIVER
Written by Tracy Whittington
Six years ago, while serving as a U.S. diplomat in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, I spotted a small, giant-eared, timid dog hiding in the tall grass next to the Congo River. When I walked by each day, there she would be, looking and acting like a miniature deer with her wide eyes and darting movements. Even from a distance, I could see she had a patch of grey skin where there should have been fur, and she was...

Dear Dr. Chan,
The vet just called me and he said it doesn’t look like TVT. Bonny might have cancer and need to further examine what type of cancer she has. She has a very big mass in her stomach and the lump at her vagina there might be cancer as well.
I have asked the vet to c...

Updates On 19th Apr 2013 19th Apr 2013, by SPCA Singapore
Does your dog bark excessively or chew up everything they can get their teeth on when you're not around? Or do they make a mess of the house when you’re not home? You’re the most important thing in your dog's world, so it's only natural that when you go out, your dog experiences some distress or anxiety. Punishment is never the answer. Why would you punish them for missing you too much?
But how do you stop the destructive behaviour?
- Provide plenty of fresh water and clean, warm beddi...

Updates On Cane Cane The Cat (Michelle Lee Soke Hui’s) 19th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Cane Cane (that’s the cat’s name now) was rescued by Michelle Lee in February 2013, with a badly fractured leg. Initially, the vet recommended amputation but upon closer examination, he decided to save the leg. An IM-pin insertion with wires was performed and Cane Cane came through it beautifully (with a few hiccups here and there).

The bill was RM1215. We subsidised RM500 from our M...
