“The Corner Of The Great Escape” – Dismantled…or So We Think? 2nd Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
First thing this morning…
Indy was let out of the condo and he made a beeline to “the Corner”, with Bunny in tow.
The shelf got to go, also because my contractor says there is a major delay with the polycarbonate…sigh. We just cannot risk Indy making another grand escape.
I brought Indy inside so that he didn’t have to suffer the heartache of seeing his shelf “go”.
Sobs…sorry, Indy ol’ pal.
Pole thinks someone is chasing her.
Poor Po...

Updates On 2nd Apr 2013 2nd Apr 2013, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
Meet Cupcake, a cat who came to the USA from Turkey with her mother and siblings about a year ago. Here she is trying to be brave during a veterinary exam today. She has juvenile gingivitis, a rather benign sounding condition but actually it's quite destructive in the mouths of these cats. Each member of this cat family suffers from oral health issues, but they are under the care of Dr. Carle near our Massachusetts headquarters. Dr. Carle grew up in Turkey and knows the ordeal of Turkish street ...

The Midnight Spider-Cat Watch 2nd Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
This is clearly a case of OCD, isn’t it?
Indy was staring at the “Corner of the Great Escape” all night.
At around 11pm, he finally got some rest, but only in this basket, facing the “Corner of the Great Escape”.
Cow was blissfully unaware of the goings-on outside.
Pole/Dory thought “someone” was chasing her again and created quite a scene.
By 1am, I decided to bring Indy into the room and lock the window so that he would be confined in the roo...

The 9.00pm Spider-Cat Report 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
I have been checking every few minutes. Yes, call me paranoid…because I am.
The 5pm check: All poofed out from the whining.
The 5.30pm check: Still poofed out.
6pm: Private dining.
Evening sojourn.
The Dorying appears to have stopped.
7pm check: All the girls are hanging out in the room.
The boys are outside.
I know from his body language, he hasn’t given up.
8pm check: Indy wonders what I am doing.
I’ve decided to fortify the security.
These pails are fille...

All Peaceful Outside 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Mr G is a regular at meal-times these days.
All is peaceful at the patio. There are no fights, except for Timmy trying to get to everyone’s food because he eats at lightning speed.
Licking every platter clean, Timmy?
Timmy has no where to go. This is his home.
He is really, really good-natured and very well-behaved.
He’s just extremely hungry most of the time (but he is dewormed). A natural big-eater, I would say.
My G still hangs out at the Stargate after meals.
He h...

Pole Goes All-Dory 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
About once every month, Pole goes “Dory” for a few days.
That’s when she dashes all over in a make-believe game of being chased by “someone”.
We call it the “Dory Syndrome”, after the Dory character in Finding Nemo.
Someone’s after me!!
She hid under the bench, and is now coming out, but with great caution.
(Actually, nobody is chasing her at all.)
Cleo watches her mum, a bit confused.
Pole does this about once a month, so we are quite used...

Dental Disease In Pets, The Silent Killer – Part 1 1st Apr 2013, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
This is a subject very close to my heart. Ever since I graduated, I always struggled with educating my clients about the importance of dental hygiene in their beloved pets.
As soon as I noted some tartar or plaque build-up on their pet’s teeth and before I could discuss my recommendations, they would defensively react by saying:
“Look the previous vet said my dog is too old to undergo a general anesthetic and I agree with his/her opinion”.
At that point, they were not...
