It may be a rainy morning...but we won't let that dampen our spirits!
Fun Fact of the Day!
Dogs see in color, but not the same way that we do. Veterinary ophthalmologists have found that dogs are similar to people with red/green color blindness, meaning they can see bluish and greenish shades but not reddish ones. To a dog, a bright orange ball on a grassy lawn appears as a light greenish ball in greenish grass. Go fetch!

The Fable Of The Porcupine 17th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Here’s a sharing from Jasmine Ong:
The Fable of the Porcupine
It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals had died because of the cold.
The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they would protect each other; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.
After a while, they decided to distance themselves one from the other but they realized they would die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quill...

Vet Helps To Catch The Puchong Dog (Kwan Pei Kuan’s) 16th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Update at 8.15pm: The vet and Pei Kuan did not manage to catch the dog. Pei Kuan was feeding the dog and all was well, but when the vet and his assistant approached, the dog ran away. I’ve sent Pei Kuan a link on how to catch the dog by sliding a loop over the head slowly when the dog is busy eating. Let’s hope it will work.
Meanwhile, if you are able to help catch the dog, please contact Pei Kuan directly on 016-6123250.

Why does our ACRES logo feature a dancing blue monkey?
Well, our logo is indeed inspired by a monkey - a special monkey named Blue - who was the first animal rescued from the illegal wildlife trade by ACRES.
Blue was rescued from a miserable life as a ‘pet’ here in Singapore, kept alone, chained up in a small cage. It was no life for a free-spirited monkey.
When we first met Blue, he lived alone, in a small cage, attached to the bars by a chain around his neck. His short chain meant there...

What’s Happening At Bunny’s Place (and More Escape Stories)? 16th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Ever since the polycarbonate went up and the two shelves went down (and got reinstalled in a different place), here’s what has been happening at Bunny’s Place.
Indy claimed the new sentry post on the day it was installed.
Tiger investigated the new Jungle Walk.
The rest of the infrastructures and its popularity remain unaffected.
Bunny also took up sentry duty.
And so did Cow.
Looks like this sentry post can now be called the “Senior Sentry Post”.
Note: the c...

Father Frank Mann’s Awakening To Compassion For Animals 16th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Simple words and a profound sharing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ekOPyXGs 3Q&feature=youtu.be
Quote: We are here to make a difference to the lives of others.
Father Frank Mann’s sharing of his experiences is something that all of us encounter every day. The billboard, the calf in the lorry and live fish in the overcrowded aquarium in the restaurant – don’t we also see this often? Sometimes, we take these experiences for granted. Sometimes we brush them off, refusing ...
