Hug was found alone in a small cage outside a mechanic's shop. Thankfully, a kind traveler came across Hug and negotiated his release. Then began his long journey by boat and bus, crossing two provinces to arrive at ACRES Lao PDR. Today, he's found a new family in a group of fellow macaques. And a new home. MHI TV3 Celebrates World Ranger Day

As run-up to World Ranger Day 2013 (celebrated today, 31 July), MHI TV crew went on a field trip to Royal Belum State Park. The field trip, courtesy of WWF-Malaysia, was to enable the media to "live the life of a ranger", engage in their daily responsibilities, understand the challenges and issues faced, and ultimately to raise awareness on the key role of rangers in our fight to achieve zero poaching of tigers and other endangered wildlife. The report was aired today.

“Run Free ‘Lil Ones” Day

My son declared that at least once a week, Bunny & Friends should be allowed to “run free”, in order words, to be allowed out of the room.
Normally, it’s on a Tuesday, but since everyone was home today, we decided to make it today as well.

How Heidi Spends Her Afternoons

Heidi, as you know, is still adjusting to her new life here. We know you simply cannot tell a cat what to do or what not to do, so we have been giving her time to adjust and find her spots.
We know she goes back to the playground to play and have fun every morning after breakfast.
What does she do after that?
It’s almost 3pm now, and she’s been here since 11am…

This is Karl Marx, formerly known as Zack back in our shelter. Adopted by the Lim family, Zack was a really shy boy who needed lots of patience and guidance to help him get over his anxiety. He used to huddle at the back of his kennel and was really intimidated by strangers and strange noises. Under the Lim family's dedicated care, he has since found confidence and couldn't be happier. Heidi’s Morning At The Playground

Heidi seems to be adjusting well to her new life of being a playground cat.
When she first came (on her own, marched into our house), it was quite clear that she had been newly abandoned and was seeking her old comforts of being a home-pet. She demanded to stay in the kitchen, sleep on the sofa and she wanted to be queen.

Whitey was a rescued dog from Selayang. We funded his TVT treatment and neutering after which he was relocated to a shelter in Ipoh by his rescuer, Yap Mei Han, but he fell sick there and was brought back for treatment (suspected tick fever). Vedrana Lukacevic raised funds through Facebook for Whitey for this second round of treatment.
