Plan B For Timmy 3rd Sep 2013, by AnimalCare
I plead guilty and I ask for no mercy.
My negligence has resulted in Timmy gaining weight over the last two weeks. With the semester having started and having to leave the house early, I failed to monitor breakfast at the patio and Timmy had been doing his merry-go-round Musical Bowls stint again, resulting in him eating up left-overs or simply snatching another cat’s food by staring the cat down.
It doesn’t look so bad from this angle….
But yes, he has definitely gained wei...

Having spent most of his life on the balcony, this dog knew only the four glass walls that surrounded him. Our inspectors arrived on the scene in June 2011 after receiving a call from a concerned resident living in the same condominium, and tried to contact the dog's owner several times. Their efforts were to no avail, and we alerted the AVA.
In the following months, we gathered evidence to boost our case against the owner and kept our liaison with the AVA as the owner continued to keep his d...

Hello all! So many rumors flying around saying that we are going to euthanise all our animals before rebuilding the shelter, that's utter nonsense. We had to stop accepting new animals two months ago, and our staff and volunteers have worked really hard to rehome all but 48 dogs and 6 cats into family homes and animal sanctuaries! Please now help us spread this positive news, instead of all the negativity and panic :)

A (motorised) Bug Invades Bunny’s Place! 3rd Sep 2013, by AnimalCare
A friend sent me a toy bug for the cats to play with.
It’s actually a motorised bug, powered by a watch battery.
It’s called “Wild Mouse”, but it looks more like a cockroach to me!
According to the picture, even if it falls on its back, it will turn over by itself!
COOL!!
As with everything new that is brought in, our quality assurance supervisor must run a check first.
It’s a bug alright…just not a cockroach, because it has so many legs.
It’s an ALIE...

Kudos To Siti Azura Juih On Her Solo Dog And Cat Neutering Mission In Kota Samarahan!! 3rd Sep 2013, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2013/07/31/medical-s ubsidy-for-georgie-the-dog-in-kota-samarahan-siti- azura-juihs/
On July 31st, Azura wrote to let us know that she will be attempting to get the street dogs neutered. However, because she is unable to foster dogs, she foresaw that she would need to board the dogs after the surgery so that they can recover before releasing them back to the colony.
Since we could not cover boarding under our policy, we blogged this news (link above) and Dr Alida Ma...

WOMAN LAUNCHES 'MAMA BEAR' ATTACK ON SHOPPER WHO LEAVES DOG IN HOT CAR
www.HarmonyFund.org
All too often people will see a dog in a hot car and do nothing out of fear of making a scene or confronting a possibly combative owner returning to the car. But when a Connecticut woman found a tiny dog panting in the front seat of a car parked in the sun, she had only two things in mind - saving the dog and making sure the driver would never leave a pet in the car again.
“I came out of a store and h...

WOMAN RESCUES HUNDREDS OF TADPOLES FROM POOL PUMP
Reported by Kathleen Quinn of New York
Photos here http://animalrescuechase.com/rescue_showcase/story .php?id=1125
My neighbor was away for a month and hadn't opened her pool. I was listening to the beautiful chorus of the tree frogs who were living under the cover. One day the pool guys arrived and started pumping the water off the top of cover. I ran over to try and retrieve these frogs only to find the guys spewing thousands of tadpoles ...

IN POURING RAIN, ONE CAR STOPS TO SAVE DRENCHED DOG Written by Vena Cava of Tennessee (USA)
I was heading to my night job as everyone else was rushing home from their day job. There was a thunderstorm going on with lightning, thunder and buckets of rain so I hoped there would not be a wreck as there often was at a major intersection. As I stopped for the light, to my horror, I saw a black and white dog right in the middle of the intersection, frantically running up to moving cars as if trying...

You won’t believe this…
Before you make your guess, here are the Patio Members (in order of arrival): Mr G, Rosie, Daffodil, Ginger, Timmy, Vincent, Mr Zurik, Heidi.
Now, make your guess….
Could it be…Mr Zurik?
Daffodil or Timmy?
Rosie?

Maybe it’s Daffodil? After all, she is the oldest by age.
Or Ginger? Or maybe Vincent?
Or the oldest “resident”, Mr G??
Have you made your guess?
Now scroll….

Mr Zurik has been coming for food twice a day, and each time, he would announce his visit by going on the aggressive with Vincent.
But today, I heard a different yet familiar sound. Something told me that Willy must be back.
I quickly went out to check and yes!
Willy was sitting at the culvert waiting for me! I haven’t seen Willy for more than a week now.
Hi Willy!!
He looks good.
How was your assignment this time, Willy?
Willy’s friends came out to celebrate his return.
Yes, ...

A New Shrew On The Block? 2nd Sep 2013, by AnimalCare
This shrew has been coming to the patio quite a bit and I’ve never been able to take his photo as he is just so fast, but today, he decided to make himself VERY visible to everyone.
Tabs is usually the first to notice any intruder and she usually chases them away. I think to her, it’s all a game.
Bunny approaches but I call him back in a calm manner, urging him to leave Mr Shrew alone. Cleo watches.
I must say, this Mr Shrew is really brave, isn’t he?
Bunny stops in his trac...
