Willy Aka Scruffy Aka Spider-Kitty 16th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Willy is not as docile and scaredy as I thought him to be…
I checked his food and found that he had cleverly picked out the piece of quartered Metronidazole (which I’m told is bitter) and placed it on the tray below.
So, like it or not, I had to garner all my courage and try the “scruff” method of force-feeding. The trick, I was told, is to grab the scruff firmly so that the cat cannot move his head. Then plonk the tablet into his throat and rub the chin to make him swall...

Yes, It's Really a Wolf
- AMAZING RESCUE UNFOLDING...
We're working with an extraordinary rescuer in Serbia. This is a land where wolves are regularly hunted. Surviving pups are "raised" by hunters who save them for future hunts. But not this time...
The wolf you see here has just been rescued by Dejan, our hero on the ground in Serbia. In fact, this is one of 6 wolves rescued in recent days by Dejan who lives very, very modestly trying to find enough food for the wolves and for the 160 dogs ...

Willy Day 2 (morning) 16th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
I was undecided whether to try force-feeding Willy his medicine (like they do it SO easily at the clinic even on the most ferocious feline) or to just mix it with his wetfood.
I took the cowardly way out….and mixed it with his wetfood.
Oh well, I cannot afford to get a bite since my thumb (that got scratched yesterday) is still one-and-a-half times its size.
Willy was hungry enough, so….yay!
But hold your horses….not so “yay” after all (wait…).
Mr Zu...

Newly Rescued Wolf - The Beginning Of Something Much BIGGER 16th Jul 2013, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
WOLF SAVED IN SERBIA: FOOD & MEDICINE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_hZ-qREgPs
The Harmony Fund international animal rescue charity is working with an extraordinary rescuer in Serbia where wolves are regularly hunted. Often the surviving pups are stolen by hunters and raised in small cages until they are full size and then they are released to be hunted by the same men who killed their mothers. After living in cages their whole lives, the wolves have no muscle tone, no experience in the wood...

Things Are Looking Up For Willy 16th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
It’s past midnight, and upon checking, Willy had passed out a well-formed stool. Yay!
He is also much more settled now and ate another two spoonfuls of ID. The vet said to give small amounts first and gradually increase it to half a can, twice a day (for his 3.15kg weight).
Willy’s supper.
The well-formed stool which is a cause for celebration!
Willy thanks everyone for the kind wishes and prayers for his recovery.
Thank you!!
P.S. I did not rule out parvovirus, actually, but I d...

Willy Still Has Diarrhoea… 15th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Willy finally ate up that one spoonful of ID and I gave him a bit more, which he happily ate up too.
However, there were traces of diarrhoea on the newspapers as well as one well-formed stool. The one piece of well-formed stool is a ray of hope that he is recovering.
Willy seems happy, though of course, he tried to get out of the cage (which self-respecting cat wouldn’t, right?)
I hope he gets well real soon.

Taking Willy To The Vet 15th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
…was much harder than I thought it would be!
I fed Willy an early dinner, and had already planned to catch him and take him to the vet because I’ve noticed him straining to defecate a few days ago, and his anus and scrotum looked very swollen. I thought he was constipating and had already bought Lactulose. LUCKILY, I hadn’t started him on it yet (read on and you’ll know why).
So Willy was eating his dinner happily and I really truly hated myself for doing this, but I had ...

Will you be my EYES?
I'm sweet lil' Angel, born without eyes. My kind owner never gave up on me and provided everything she could so I can lead a normal life, although many would believe a dog born with such disabilities should be put to sleep.
However, my owner is often working and fears that I may hurt myself, so I am caged most of the time. She'd like me to have a more active life running and playing just like other doggies.
Would you have the time, compassion and care for me? I'd be...

Hamsters make great pets for children because they are less demanding and are fairly simple to maintain. They may be small and easy to keep, but hamsters have their special needs too! Because it's so difficult to tell the gender of a small or baby hamster, many make the mistake of placing two hamsters of opposite genders in the same cage. As hamsters are prolific breeders, the situation will soon get out of hand. Having litters of hamsters to deal with after will prove challenging. Their tendenc...
