Teaching "Stay"
21st Oct 2013, by SPCA Singapore

Having trouble getting your dog to stay and not move until you tell him to? A good "Stay" is actually a two-part skill - "Stay" tells the dog not to move until you give it permission to do so, and a release word, e.g. "Free", signals that the dog has the permission to move. To build a good reliable stay, you need to work on the 3 variables that can make or break a stay - duration, distance and distractions. Kang Nee, a certified professional dog trainer with a PhD in Zoology, works with us and...

Catching Up On Stories From Bunny’s Place And The Patio
20th Oct 2013, by AnimalCare

Tabs is back to her old self again now, monopolising her “editor’s chair”. She’s also making crafty escapades from the room to the living room, as before, like a little Speedy Gonzales. Am so glad her “illness” was not FIP or pancreatitis. However, we don’t know what it was. Just that, she is well now. She has a few more days of antibiotics to go, after which I shall be fortifying her with immune boosters and probiotics. She is already on probiotics eve...

Come Face To Face With Dolphins
20th Oct 2013, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Louis Ng, Founder and Chief Executive of ACRES, said “The dolphins may appear to be healthy and happy in captivity, but the reality is that the dolphin’s permanent smile often hides an inner suffering. We must remember that studies show that dolphins do not cope well with captivity. The issue here is not how many trainers RWS hires, but that they simply do not cope well with captivity.”
