Earlier this week, we received a call about a puppy who needed rescue. Imagine our Animal Rescue Officer's surprise (and horror) when he arrived on the scene. A paper bag was left at the void deck of Block 359, Yuan An Road, but this wasn't any paper bag - there was a puppy in it. Our officer immediately took the puppy out of the bag and transported her back to our shelter.
Our consultant vet checked the puppy and fortunately, she had no injuries or illnesses. This darling three-month-old gir...

Volunteer rescuer Tracie Mitchum has just retrieved this dog from inside a dumpster at the YMCA in Summerville, South Carolina. Yes, a dumpster. Let's hope the dog fell in there while searching for food, because the thought of someone deliberately putting him in the dumpster is too hard to stomach.
The dog has already had a bath and a meal and some flea medicine. He is shy and docile. Where would we be without such incredible volunteers? We feel very fortunate tonight that help arrived befor...

Tiger To The Rescue Again!! 2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2013/07/02/two-cat-w ars-averted-phew/
Just this afternoon, we witnessed Tiger standing in between the two warring black-and-whites, Cow and Indy, and stopping a fight.
Was that just a coincidence?
I verify: NO, it was NOT a coincidence.
Take a look at what happened just now….
Cow was relaxing, minding his own business.
Soon, Indy came along and for no apparent reason, started growling at Cow.
The moment the growling started. Tiger jumps down from the shelf...

Keeping Mr Zurik Company 2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Poor Mr Zurik sometimes lets out a whine.
I understand…it’s so boring being in the cage when he must feel well already. And it’s lonely too, being alone at the patio.
So we keep him company…
Er…everyone, not like this.
Don’t look at Mr Zurik like he’s a circus exhibit, please.
Let’s just all relax and chill out here with him, shall we?
Poor thing…
Meanwhile, Vincent isn’t here. I heard two cat whinings outside in the porch already. He...

Two Cat-Wars Averted…phew! 2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Vincent comes back to the patio for mealtimes, but still refuses to eat with everyone else, so I have to feed him at the pillar. He refuses to eat anywhere else but at the pillar.
Ginger accompanies his friend as he eats.
I think Ginger is trying to make peace (remember Ginger started bullying Vincent when the latter had that small paw injury).
Daffodil is watching too.
Meanwhile, Mr Zurik is fine and dandy.
I really felt like releasing him, the poor dear, being caged for 6 days now. SighR...

Kelly & Jacinta’s Shelter In Tanjung Rambutan And Their Facebook Page 2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
We started helping Kelly & Jacinta in 2011 because a friend from Ipoh told us about their work and Kelly herself called me to ask for financial assistance as she was in dire straits at that time. That was before we had policies in place.
Some months back, our committee decided that we have to follow strictly to our policies of only helping individual needy (and responsible) caregivers and not groups, shelters or organisations. Hence, we explained this to Kelly and Jacinta and told them we wi...

Sometimes… 2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, I received a call from a lady asking for help for her stray cat who has a serious illness. The call came from the vet’s, so I took it thinking it was something serious. AnimalCare does not have a phone service as I do not often take calls. I’m usually either in class, at some meeting, giving some talk or at choir practice, all of which does not permit me to take calls. Hence, we have no phone service. Only emails.
However, since the call came from the vet’s clinic,...

Rescues & Cruelty Cases 2nd Jul 2013, by SPCA Selangor
CAT POISONING IN PUTRAJAYA
Over the last few months, we have received reports of several stray cats being fatally poisoned in Putrajaya. The heart-wrenching photos above were taken by one of the residents who saw these strays suffering outside his home. It was too late, the vet could not save them.
The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) is looking into this case, police reports have been made and samples of the poison have been sent to the lab for testing. Neighbours suspect it could have...

These enthusiastic students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic are working with us for their PR Campaign Planning module. We discussed and deliberated over the topics we'd most like to share with the public, and tasked them with the responsibility of creating impactful messages and campaigns. They also took on the mammoth task of suggesting angles for the education website that we're in the midst of creating, targeted at the new MOE Character and Citizenship Enrichment (CCE) syllabus.
We met again ye...

ROTTY :: A Stray Dog With Rotten Penis 2nd Jul 2013, by SPCA Seberang Perai
[Updates from MDDBNorthern'sWall]
Rotty blood test result is out and we have the below findings:
Low Amount of Haemoglobin:
Rotty seems to be suffering from anemia, with an abnormally low amount of haemoglobin. Hemoglobin delivers oxygen to the cells and tissues of the body, and a patient who is anemic will suffer from symptoms related to a lack of oxygen.
Red blood cells are produced in the bone marrow and are released into the blood where they circulate for approximately two months. As they...

LOVE ARRIVES FOR LILY IN SERBIA
www.HarmonyFund.org
We've been very busy in Serbia lately, helping in a vast array of rescues and sponsoring the care of hundreds of dogs who are in shelters or waiting for rescue. Tonight we introduce you to Lily. She was found with two broken legs and would not have survived with no way to move about and find food. Thank goodness a volunteer from Balkan Underdogs spotted her before it was too late. Healing has begun. Surgery is complete and with the use of a...
