RAT SAVED FROM SWIMMING POOL SAYS "THANKS" Shared by Annina Huang "Though Rats are not exactly the animal we think of saving or wanting around one's home, there was one day that I couldn't help but act. I was laid up in bed with a broken knee - not even yet on crutches (spent 4 months on my back). As I was laying there I noticed that a field rat had fallen into my pool and was slowing tiring out from trying to swim. The pauses between his struggle and lack of motion where getting longer and lo...

My New Water Gun
24th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

We’ve bought at least 3 water guns and all are broken now. Either the cats pushed them down and the plastic cracked or they just started leaking. Then, I had a brainwave, why not just use a normal ironing spray? The type where you can adjust the nozzle to let out a thin sharp shot of water? So I got this today, from Daiso. It’s only RM5. There were so many types, but this one has the best grip. I’ve filled it with my home-made garbage enzyme (made with only lemons). And adjust...

Catnip, Anyone?
24th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

You know we’ve been selling (by donation) the catnip seeds donated by Chen? Well, we’ve sold the last of the packets, and I haven’t managed to grow mine (sobs), but Connie offered to grow it for me and…  Nice, yes? So far, the patio cats haven’t shown much interest in it. Heidi, for example, slept next to it but didn’t do anything to the leaves. Aren’t cats supposed to go “high” on it? I haven’t tried it on Bunny & Friends yet, b...

A Hot Pad For Your Cat (or Dog)?
24th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

What is Suxiaorebao? My son just came back from Beijing and brought this back… He thought it might come in handy for me when I foster kittens. So, what is this Suxiaorebao thingie? It’s a dense liquid in a thick plastic bag. And it has this metal piece that looks like a coin. You have to “break” the coin many times. Now, watch what happens… The liquid starts to change colour, and it heats up! Yes, it becomes HOT. Within seconds, it has become a hot pad! You c...

Willy – Back To Normal
24th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Willy was not at the patio this morning… Tabby check: Heidi is here, Vincent is here, Mr Zurik is not. So I go look for Willy… ….and find him across the road, at his telephone pole, looking scared (as usual). And why is he scared? This is why. And Fear Factor followed me quickly into the porch. To eat with the rest. I gave him lots of food so that he would be too busy eating (so that I can feed Willy and give him ample time to finish his meal). I know there has to be a bett...
