Meet Didi, a lovely 3-year-old girl dog! She arrived in SPCA Selangor in June 2010, and she has waited more than two-and-a-half years for someone to adopt her. She is a strong, personable dog and will make a good family pet!
We're open everyday 9am-4pm, please do drop by to meet her!
IMPORTANT: We are desperately looking for foster homes for more than 80 dogs as we do not want to expose the shelter animals to the noise and pollution as we demolish and rebuild our shelter. If you have some...

India Moves Towards Ban On Household-Product Tests On Animals 28th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
I received this in an email from PETA:
We have exciting news to share! Following a PETA campaign, key decisionmakers in India have proposed to end tests on animals for household products and their ingredients!
After an extensive campaign by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India—which included appeals from high-profile politicians as well as lengthy discussions with a PETA India scientist—the Bureau of Indian Standards’ Soaps and Other Surface Active Agents Sectional...

What are the world’s Longevity Hot Spots?
Take a look: http://phoenix.akealife.com/blueprint-for-l ife/longevity-hot-spots/
An excerpt:
Longevity hot spots the world over share one thing in common: Their people are healthier and live longer than anyone else in the world. Their populations have far fewer cases of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity than others. And they have, on average, significantly higher percentages of centenarians and supercentenarians, those people who live p...

Mr Quack’s Kitten-Friend! 28th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
Remember this: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/12/29/the-quac k-and-his-friend/? (Click and see first!)
The kitten has now grown up, and the adopter caught the kitten grooming Mr Quack last night!!
This is the post-grooming picture.
The Quack and his friend!
Flashback: Mr Quack is the terrorist who created havoc in my community last year when he appeared from nowhere and went on a brief reign of terror (“I come, I see, I terrorise.”). I caught him, got him neutered and rehomed. Th...

A Change Of Taste 28th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
Today, a friend gave me two cans of Nature’s Variety Instinct canned catfood for my cats to try.
It’s grain-free. The chicken is cheaper than the lamb.
I mixed both cans and added Primal.
Tabs and the titans ate…
The Pole girls ate, but not Tiger.
Indy was fine with it, too.
But the Pole girls only ate half of it and started going away, with Tiger still looking wondering why he has been served with this strange-smelling food. I guess it was a mistake to mix both c...

And How Is Mr Quack These Days?? 27th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
Do you remember Mr Quack?
He is the terrorist on my street who bit Ginger until the poor boy’s paw turned almost gangrenous and he created havoc on my street until I finally caught him (thanks to the assistance of Daffodil and Rosie):
http://myanimalcare.org/2012/12/19/ladies- and-gentleman-may-i-present-mr-q-plan-d/
After he was neutered, I couldn’t return him to my street as we all know neutering may not change a cat’s territorial behaviour (tell me about it, take a look at C...

A Message From Imm’s Shelter 27th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
We are grateful to Judy Chua for having kept us in the loop with news from Imm’s Shelter and we are happy that they are doing well and sustaining the shelter with donations from friends and well-wishers.
We empathise with all shelters as there will always be endless requests from rescuers for shelters to take in their rescues. But as with all no-kill sanctuaries such as Imm’s, it comes a time when, as difficult as it is, the shelter has to close its doors so that it can continue taki...
