Cinderella & Her Friends: First Sunshine For 752 Ex-Battery Hens

We’ve seen how happy apes are when they see sunshine for the first time in their entire lives.
Now, it’s the chickens’ turn.
An Australian farmer had a change of heart and decided his cages will never hold another hen doomed for slaughter.
He set his 752 hens free to enjoy the sun, to stretch their wings, to dustbathe to their heart’s content and live out their natural lives happily.
Cinderella was one of them.

Astro used to hang out in our shelter and would usually steer clear of our visitors to do his own thing. He was the epitome of cool and wasn't afraid to strut his stuff. Tiger Day 19

It was yesterday that I started to notice an “improvement” in Tiger’s stubborn Gang of Eight sores on his left hind leg. From far, I could see that these sores have all suddenly become significantly smaller.
Today, I managed to take some photos without upsetting him too much as he was sitting out in the sun.

Its been a week since Suzzie's final surgery. The 2-hour intensive surgery gave her the renewed chance to move on all 4 limbs. Suzzie is starting to adapt to this new change and we can't express how amazed and thankful we are seeing her indomitable fighting spirit.

Who Is Mr Kekok?

My husband calls him “Mr Kekok”.
Every morning, before going to work, he makes it a point to visit all the cats and carry some of them.
His favourite cat (to carry) is Indy….and why so?
Because Indy doesn’t like to be carried and it’s “fun” to watch how Indy wiggles out of it using all his muscle and might.
Hence, the name “Mr Kekok”…

Pole Goes Back To The Top!!

After suffering from a rather undignified “fall” from the top shelf to the one below yesterday, Pole took baby steps and summoned enough courage (and dignity) to climb back to the top this evening!

Tiger Day 18

This morning I was really pleased to see that Tiger’s left hind leg sores seemed to have shrunken. At least they appeared to be so to the naked eye.
After Lamisil cream this morning.
After an hour on the e-collar.
Ginger has become Tiger’s best friend now.

The Day Pole Fell Down

Yesterday, I heard a loud noise in the room.
When I rushed in, I saw Pole and her pillow had fallen down from the top shelf onto the shelf below it. I am not sure how that happened but I think cat and pillow both fell backwards against the wall, from one shelf onto the other.
Pole looked really upset and was trying her best to “recover” and maintain her calm poise and balance.
Sobs..I fell down…
