HURT NO LIVING THING
by Christina Rossetti
Hurt no living thing;
Ladybird, nor butterfly,
Nor moth with dusty wing,
Nor cricket chirping cheerily,
Nor grasshopper so light of leap,
Nor dancing gnat, nor beetle fat,
Nor harmless worms that creep.

BEST DAY OF HER LIFE THANKS TO YOU!
Look at Charlotte. She just had the best day of her life with a soft bed, a delicious breakfast and a great walk in the park. Charlotte was recently rescued by a small group of heroes who circled around her at a notorious dog dumping ground in Houston, Texas. Charlotte is one of more than 100 dogs who are now safe thanks to a very special team of volunteers who fly under the banner of the Animal Safety League of Northeast Harris County.

This week, we present you a sneak-peek at the new enclosure set up for Midori, one of our Green iguanas. A few years ago, he was rescued from an industrial area, with stomach ulcers resulting from razor blades in his stomach. (He is well now :) We routinely periodically change enclosure furniture for our enclosures, but this time - we took inspiration from the 'shaking log' enrichment that Valerie (one of our iguanas) got a few weeks ago. Expanding the idea, part of Midori's enclosure can swing ...

Tiger Day 5 – Photos Of His Sporo Wounds 11th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
I thought I should just take some photos of Tiger’s wounds for my own records.
Today is Day 5.
Yesterday, I did notice a small wound on his hip but I wasn’t sure if it was a sporo wound, but now I think it is. The consolation (if any) is that I was told the wounds got to “come out” and sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better.
There is definitely a red sore here. I didn’t take any chances even yesterday, so I have been applying the Lamisil cream on it as...

Adoption Spotlight: Leo.
This 2-year-old girl has lovely markings that make her very unique indeed! Curious like most cats, Leo got herself stuck in a tree for 3 days before she was finally rescued by our Junior Inspectors. Can you give her a home where she can explore safely indoors? Come meet her soon and maybe welcome her home if you're ready for the lifetime commitment!
Also, show some love to the other equally adorable and lovable animals waiting in our shelter for their forever homes. Vi...

An Update On The 9 Rescued Pound Dogs (from Eugene Lee) 11th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
Just to recap, 13 dogs were rescued from one of the local pounds on 6th February 2014. On a personal basis, I raised RM2700 from my friends to pay for the dogs’ SAPP (Sponsor-a-Pet Programme) at PAWS after Eugene agreed with the plan to place the dogs at PAWS while he works on rehoming them.
Shortly after that, one dog bit through the cage and escaped through a hole in the fence. Two of the elderly dogs were taken out by Eugene for medical care and are being fostered by him now. One dog pa...

Bye, Rattan Trunk! 11th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
Those of you who have been following this blog would know all about the rattan trunk in Bunny’s Place. Yes, it was Cow, Bunny and Tiger’s favourite den. Even Cleo and Indy use it sometimes and everyone loved it.
But with Tiger coming down with sporotrichosis and the rattan trunk being in a terrible shape (it is so broken and it does smell too!), it was time to say farewell to it.
So yesterday, we took the rattan trunk away for good. It’s just three-quarters left, because most o...
